I did an underground nest, that had been swarming at the edge of my shed by day, the night before last. An ounce of gasoline down the hole. All quiet on the subterranean front.Seems yellow jackets are the worst based on prior posts and I will agree. They are just plain mean and aggressive.
I have sprayed a few nests and I hate going near the darn things.
Living underground is just plain unfair!

Not much problem with dogs where I lived, wolves easily clean out the dogs...and everything else...including an occasional human. We have Red Wolf in only a small area of Eastern Texas along with heavy population of Coyotes accross the intire state. In my experience dogs do more damage to wildlife, livestock and poultry than both combined.

I won't disagree with you, but if my one boy would have been mowing, himself not having experience with getting stung multiple times, I'm greatful that I'm the one that found out about the hive.
You guys are scaring me!!
I now feel very fortunate to live where I only need to tolerate skeeters, wasps, gophers, moles, & the occasional skunk !!
I even like my neighbors!
Yes. A "piece of cake".Just poured the gas in the home? No need to light?
MoKelly
Yes. A "piece of cake".- - The fumes are heavier than air. The gas just evaporates into the nest and the fumes linger long term. The atmosphere is unsurvivable. Lighting is actually counter productive. BIG hornet nests can be done at nite too. Hornets do seem to post a guard but "hes" sleepy and sluggish/disoriented. I hold my breath, stab a big hypo in, squeeze, pull out and run. Then breathe. Usually 1 or two come out flying around confusedly; the rest die overnite. Never failed never stung.
