You said animal, so I absolutely vote WOLVES!!!

I lived around them for many years, so I saw them the way they REALLY are like, instead of what National Geo tells you they are like!!

Our ancestors got that one right, the first time!!

We have Red Wolf in only a small area of Eastern Texas along with heavy population of Coyotes accross the intire state. In my experience dogs do more damage to wildlife, livestock and poultry than both combined.

If songbirds and small rodents were as valuable to the hunting community as say whitetail deer...you would need a special permit to have a domestic cat as a pet...
Hands down...feral (once domestic) cats do more damage to native wildlife than any other non native, invasive species..including the pythons in The Everglades etc...

^^^ Except one.

THE single most destructive animal the planet has ever known.

My compassion level seems to be getting lower as I get older. If its a bother its dead. Wife draws the line at her mother

Central Texas - Hard to put them in priority: Most are beneficial to some degree, but NOT around my house/yard

As of yesterday, I will move copperheads to the top. My hand was 6" from it's head before I saw it.

- Armadillo's - yes they eat grubs and other bugs, but very destructive to yard
- Gophers / Moles - same comment as Armadillos
- Chiggers, Fire Ants
- Hogs
- Wasps - only when they build nests in my truck engine / grill / on house
- Poison Ivy / Poison Oak - too much around here. If I touch poison oak, it's off to the care center for steroid pack.

I was reaching for a tomato in the garden yesterday when a garter snake moved right below my hand. Thankfully the only snakes around here are harmless garters.
We do have plenty of yellow jackets and a few years ago they decided to make a nest under my dog's house. He doesn't like them either. I did manage to destroy the nest and occupants without getting stung. I wonder if the multiple hummingbird feeders that my wife maintains may attract them as they frequent the feeders.

Seems yellow jackets are the worst based on prior posts and I will agree. They are just plain mean and aggressive.

I have sprayed a few nests and I hate going near the darn things.

Living underground is just plain unfair!

I did an underground nest, that had been swarming at the edge of my shed by day, the night before last. An ounce of gasoline down the hole. All quiet on the subterranean front.

Not much problem with dogs where I lived, wolves easily clean out the dogs...and everything else...including an occasional human.

Yeaa it's true, even if it didn't hit the news cycle.

Just poured the gas in the home? No need to light?

If all living things on the planet were asked the same question, I wonder what their response would be?

We got a light rain the other night; I let the dogs out the next morning and watched them playing with what I though was an earthworm on the drive...not unusual for worms to crawl out and die there. Upon a closer look, it was a Ring Neck snake...no more than about 3 inches in length...probably the smallest I have ever seen. Of course, I let it live.

You guys are scaring me!!
I now feel very fortunate to live where I only need to tolerate skeeters, wasps, gophers, moles, & the occasional skunk !!
I even like my neighbors!

I won't disagree with you, but if my one boy would have been mowing, himself not having experience with getting stung multiple times, I'm greatful that I'm the one that found out about the hive.

Wasps and Yellow jackets is the one living being that I have no tolerence for after they attack you. Never been attacked by a gopher, mole and the occasional skunk...

Yes. A "piece of cake". ;) - - The fumes are heavier than air. The gas just evaporates into the nest and the fumes linger long term. The atmosphere is unsurvivable. Lighting is actually counter productive. BIG hornet nests can be done at nite too. Hornets do seem to post a guard but "hes" sleepy and sluggish/disoriented. I hold my breath, stab a big hypo in, squeeze, pull out and run. Then breathe. Usually 1 or two come out flying around confusedly; the rest die overnite. Never failed never stung.

Great. I never knew this method.

Thanks!
