Pigs and chickens have to be housed in spacious apartments or they can't be sold in California. Don't blame politicians for that one, the voters got together and passed an initiative. They are projecting a shortage of bacon, and substantial price rises for both pork and chicken products. Forge some paperwork, load a refrigerator truck in Vegas, and head for LA.Is there really a band on bacon in California or one that is proposed I've never heard of it before? Make sure your truck is an EV so you will be a Green smuggler.![]()

In Iowa, which raises about one-third of the nation's hogs, farmer Dwight Mogler estimates the changes would cost him $3 million and allow room for 250 pigs in a space that now holds 300.
Motor don' runna, no makea no noise.Might be one of those Italian made FIAT 2 strokes?
Nuke it! That's still the quickest, easiest, least messy way to cook bacon.

Sound like a bunch of hogwashI think that I posted this earlier in this thread... Bacon may disappear in California as pig rules take effect
California voters passed a law in 2018 requiring more growing space for hogs, chickens, and egg layers.
As long as they are willing to pay for the difference I don't see that it should be an issue; yet what are the chances of THAT happening?
Most of the country's hogs are grown in the midwest (Iowa?) so they will also have to pay for an inspector to track from sow to grocery store.
I’d like to make sure factory laborers working in other countries are working in humane conditions before I worry about hogs or chickens. Not really; Cali wants to make hog production humane vs factory raised. The downside is the way they are going about it.
Who actually does that though? We have auditors following the paper trail of trees, from stump to Home Depot and Staples to make sure that it's "environmentally certified"; yet who even looks at anything more than the price tag when it comes to buying sneakers? Yet it all comes back to the level playing field which we discussed earlier... factory workers in Sri Lanka are happy to be able to afford food, whereas people here complain while eating in front of their TVs.I’d like to make sure factory laborers working in other countries are working in humane conditions before I worry about hogs or chickens.
Like laborers making basketball sneakers, EV car batteries, etc.

Why would you buy a truck and NOT get the towing package (if you are planning to tow)? Built in brake controller and additional transmission cooling capacity will do wonders to increase transmission lifespan. We're finding that with our company trucks. Apparently transmissions were lasting too long, so they eliminated the tranny coolers.
Actually with synthetic it isn't as bad, and the cooler is included if you get the towing package.
Spellbinding reply, Solitary Man. The screen name suits you, btw.
