BYD and Tesla CEOs are engineers which may be why they are well ahead in profitability in the EV race.

I am not a fan of them. The Chinese Communist party runs the country and can be repressive. I read an article in the New Yorker about them cracking down on Xinjiang’s muslims. However when they support a business it is unequivocal
Sounds like China's EV growth rate is going crazy.

When the communist government effectively forces people to buy electric vehicles, of course the market share is growing. To register an ICE vehicle in China, you have to win a lottery, literally.

I own a highly efficient hybrid and have driven one since '06. That was my choice.

We’d push hard for EV’s too, if we couldn’t see past four blocks on a calm day due to the smog.
Wait, LA has that problem….
Nevermind
They are pushing for public transportation instead. If I lived in an area like that I wouldn't be driving either.

Then again I wouldn't live in a congested area like that.

Based on off-road motorcycle racing experience and having manned the pre-race sound check, there is no good reason a 2-stroke can not be as quiet as a 4-stroke. A 4-stroke with bad muffler can be much louder than a 2-stroke because twice as much exhaust passes half as often. For similar power a 2-stroke muffler is smaller than that of a 4-stroke because the frequency is higher.

Most off-road motorcycles use baffles packed with sound deadening fibers. These get packed tight, contaminated with oil and carbon, and no longer perform as new. Hence the testing at races. Too loud and you don't race.

If an engine is quiet then it is quiet because the designer and operator want it that way. Not because it is 2-stroke or 4-stroke.
Not precisely true. While I have a 2-stroke camping generator that is whisper quiet, the exhaust pipes on high performance 2-cycle engines, like motorcycles, are tuned for resonance scavenging of the cylinder. Exhaust port gasses hitting the rarified region in the pipe creates a lot of noise.

California is pushing even harder. You have 14 years left to buy an ICE car in California. After that, all cars have to be zero emission.

Every regulation is an opportunity. I'm considering becoming a bacon smuggler. :ROFLMAO:

Note also they make a point in the above article that the batteries are government subsidized. To what extent they are subsidized, is anyone’s guess.
But if we have to compete with CCP subsidies, basically ZERO pollution regulations and currency manipulation practices, then it’s unfair and we probably don’t stand a long term chance in the EV car battery manufacturing market.
At least not with the current administrations unfriendly American corporation tax rates and highly aggressive regulation practices.

See also: Death of American steel, automobile, etc manufacturing for more convincing proof.
Boy am I glad I don't walk around pissed off all the time like you.

Let me understand if I have this correct...

1. China is the world's largest CO2 air polluter
2. China is the world's largest consumer of deforestation products
3. China's policies encourage rampant environmental damage
4. China is not forced to effectively participate in global climate goals
5. China consumes most of the earth's natural resources
6. The world has no real plan for comprehensive battery recycling
7. China is the world's largest producer of batteries
8. The US' plan is to have the majority of future vehicles EV

Hmmmm.....

I am not against EV, but I am against what I perceive as the plan.

Every regulation is also a loss of freedom
Coincidentally, lots of new regulations these days

Is there really a band on bacon in California or one that is proposed I've never heard of it before? Make sure your truck is an EV so you will be a Green smuggler. :)

I'd like to learn about the possibilities of EV's without the incessant politics. Yes, there are pro's and con's; leave the rest out.

A lot is being learned. EVs hold a lot of promise. When they are forced on us by governing bodies, that opens up another swath of topics that go with them.

Kina hard to avoid the 800lb gorilla in the room.

Not really; Cali wants to make hog production humane vs factory raised. The downside is the way they are going about it.
