Bobcat CT2040
I just took delivery of a new Bobcat CT2040. The decision in selecting this tractor was somewhat simple. Although my initial preference was for a John Deere Series 3R tractor the closest dealer was about 100 miles away and availability was limited. The only tractor dealer in town only handled Bobcat. They only had one tractor in stock, a CT2035 but a CT2040 was on the way. I chose the latter because of the added 5hp. The free front loader promotion helped seal the deal. I don't find the tractor particularly impressive but seems well built. It remains to be seen whether it proves reliable.

I also purchased a 5' box blade, 72" angle scraper, 3 point quick release and bolt on blade for the front bucket. All are Bobcat products. I'm also thinking of purchasing a setup for pallet forks and rear remotes primarily for a hydraulic top link. I may also replace the Gearmore land plane and landscape or rock rake left from my previous tractor. Both may prove too small for the larger Bobcat.

Hope this works out.

Congratulations on the new Bobcat ! Was talking to an older fellow a couple days ago with a Bobcat about the same size, said he bought it new 5 years ago and now has 1,500 trouble free hours on it, he is 85 years old.

I'm looking seriously at the Bobcat 2000 series tractor. I see from some other threads you're thinking about getting out of your CT2040. I'm sorry to hear that. Any particular reason?

Simply put it doesn't perform to my expectations, especially on the long steep driveway that I maintain.

Sorry to hear that. One would think that 40HP for driveway work would be more than sufficient. I'm sure you've already looked into the possibility that there's something amiss with your particular machine. I hope it's not a design problem. Good luck in your search; hope you can find something suitable.
