Give you one more chance, if you had to pull 10,000lbs around constantly, which engine would you pick, a Ford ecoboost or a 6.7L Cummins? :confused3:

For pulling 10,000 pounds every day and the option is a F-150 with a eco boost or a 3500 with a 6.7 Cummins is that even a question? Would you rather dig a 3 foot deep hole with a backhoe or shovel? But that’s really a not fair comparison. I’ll gross 40,000 with my 366 gas burner all day where a 2500 truck with the same motor won’t come close. The 6500 has the cooling to handle it and a transmission that doesn’t gain neutrals plus considerably more brakes and suspension.

there was no F150 or F350 differentiation. Just motors.

For everyday use it’s still a backhoe vs shovel comparison. One engine is built for medium duty work and one is built for a glorified passenger vehicle that can haul your tractor to your hunting camp a few times a year.

That pretty much sums up what Ive been saying, but if someone wants to be convinced a 3L ecoboost is a tougher engine and a better choice in a truck that a 6.7L diesel, more power to him. :confused3::laughing:

I owned a Ram with a common rail 5.9 and own a F150 now, but it’s a 5.0. Trying to compare the two just isn’t anything but an exercise on paper. The eco boost, the 5.0 are light duty engines meant for occasional towing, but you can tow with them all the time. Towing 10,000 pounds with one I don’t think will tear up the engine, something else will give up the ghost first, such as transmission or rear end. A 5.9 Cummins while making less horsepower just seems to run better when hooked to a load. It’s kind of like comparing a handgun to a rifle fun to do but each are different, better in some ways, worse in others.
