My bank has gotten to the point I have to let them know in advance if we are travelling. If I forget I have a 50 / 50 chance of my card not working in a gas pump 2 states away.

They said a check is in the mail.
I will never trust that bank again, ever, Green, goes by two letters.
They should be out of business instead of being bought up by another company.
When you can;t trust you bank to do simple things like hold your money.........
As I said, they gave my wives money to someone else who typo'd their account number. Name wasn;t even close (was a male who got the money).
My wife found out when checks bounced, they were exceptionally unapologetic.
Then gave my money to the state and "said" they notified me before they did it. Verified they had my correct phone number and email, but used neither of these.
Sent to my old house (well they said they did).
three months to get to this point, hopefully the check will show up soon.

Electronic xfers are an issue for me. I tried to track one down from my bank, "who is blah blah" and they could not help. Plus, I found out they have a limited amount of time for reimbursements on "fraud".

I've only had one issue. Went to the bank, filled out the paperwork as I couldn't figure out why money was transfered somewhere. Bout a week later, money was put back in. It was only a 2 page report, pretty easy overal when I was at the bank asking about the transaction.

Only issue was I found out the next day after filing the report that I paid for my dads car insurance electronically to help him get a discount since he transfered his insurance from Pa to NC (apparently I authorized the transaction like 6 month ago). In my defense I asked my dad the day before I went in to file the report if he had a certain $ bill that I may of taken care of for him and he said no. Next day at dinner (night of the day I filed the report) at the dinner table, he says, hey, how much did you say was transfered? Same amount as his car insurance. Go figure:laughing: Had to call the bank the next day like an idiot telling them the transfer was actually legit, but to late. Had to do the process all over again with the auto insurance people.

Buyer beware, Saver beware.

I don't care if it's a saving account, checking account or any other kind of account. Person saving money still needs to check on the balance at least once a month to see if there is anything strange going on. Now, bury your money out back, you're probably safe.

My first checking account was at BofA and the account number I was given was tied to someone with tax liens...

The first 3 checks I had written bounced and Dad was livid.. I said I would never write a check without money

We both went down at opening and found I had zero money and my money, that of a 16 year old had been taken by IRS.

At least I was redeemed and we did not leave until I had a new account, my money and special coding my account would be Free

You should be able to set alerts with your bank to text you for any withdrawals or deposits. Every bank or credit union we use has that available.

Most will text you your balance every week or at some other designated interval.

I came across this post. Looked on Michigan's list, found one for my deceased father, my daughter, son, and wife's brother. Filed claim for dad a few minutes ago and sent link to my duaughter. Thank you folks!

Another banking story. I disputed a charge on my credit card. Although they were supposed to stop all fees and interest they did not and as some of you know, phone calls and e mails did no good.

Because i did not pay the bill they pinged my credit rating which was excellent. A poor credit. rating results in higher insurance rates and lower credit limits on your cards etc. I opened a Lowe's card just to get the 5% discount, they allowed me $1000.00 credit line. That's funny. I told the lowe's credit guy I always paid in cash anyway, all i wanted was the 5% discount, which i got.

I won the dispute with my credit card but, the credit card co won't remove the negative report so my credit rating still suffers. They are basically saying, too bad, so sad, talk to the hand.

The credit card lobbiest lawyers got the politician lawyers convinced, everything is all under control. You talk about catch 22!

You’re welcome! Enjoy the dinner and tell us about it.

Was that you? I sincerely thank you, cause I had no idea this type of thing even existed. The dead beat I put the mechanics lean on must have had to pony up at some time to clear the lien; that was like, 18 years ago... I owe you one, Sir.

It's amazing it was still available to claim. Many states only hold them for a few years. Five to seven seem common.

Some banks are getting carried away.

If I go to one to, example, get change for, say, a $100. banknote they force you to make a deposit first B4 handing U the change.
They always use the excuse that it is 'for your protection', yeah!

But what if I have no acct there?
I'd be out of luck as in many cases some businesses refuse certain denominations due to counterfeiting.
Shucks I was once refused cash to pay a traffic ticket but I argued that I was using legal tender (and won my point).

I got $95.oo worth of gas free that way. Attendant said he wouldn't accept the 100$ bill for $95.oo worth of gas. So I left
with my C note in my pocket. Cops came to my work and asked about it, I told them the whole story and they told the attendant he was on the hook for the 95. bux. Even the legal tender wouldn't budge the clerk.
