We don't want to leave cleaned-up terminals bone dry and unprotected.
Between humidity and hydrogen release we're begging for corrosion on both without something with dielectric and water repellent qualities.
In past I've used petroleum jelly, lithium grease, WD-40, and red grease, and Ox-Guard from my electrical kit for use with Al wire terminal connections, though pricey.
Two words: Fluid Film.
