Good job. I can relate to being retired with a well equipped shop. Bought all my big stuff before I retired. Having a hard time getting steel drops for projects though. Scrap yards do not allow picking anymore.

Very nice design and build

Thanks, I hope it works a good as it looks.

I have a small Jet lathe, and I want to get a horizontal mill yet. Most of the Bridgeports I have looked at are pretty well clapped out, so I am looking at a Precision Mathews PM-940 as an option.
Yeah, I used to be able to pick up scrap and drops at the local scrap yard, but they were bought out by OmniSource, and they put an end to that. There is a local dealer, just a few miles from my house, that carries a lot of surplus, irregular and end of run material, and sells it at a good price. A local Amish welding/fabricating shop sells material cut to size so cheap I don't know how they can do it. I had them cut mn Mathewse two 8" X 18" X 1/4" plates for a project, charged me $20.65. They blasted and powder coated all the blower parts for me too, that was $162.00 total. They have the seat pan, side panels and grille now to powder coat them JD green.

I got a Precision Mathews knee mill, it's alright, definitely not as nice as a well cared for bridgeport.

Will the entire edge of the plow contact the driveway when angled? Looks like the SSQA plate will be close to dragging on the driveway with the plow blade in that position.

No, the plate isn't dragging. As for full contact with ground when angled, there's adjustments I could make there, increase slop to add lateral play, also increase/decrease the attack angle of the plow itself so that it sits more flush when angled. I need snow to see what needs adjusting, we'll get there.

I like your perseverance. You will be ready for winter!

That said, keep your eyes open for a used 60" ATV plow. That would be perfect for version 2.0

Found a used front blower for my L4240HST-3. Installed the mid pto and went through the blower. Ended up rebuilding the lift cylinder, changed gearboxes X 2 fluids, greased adjusted and tested. Waiting for my first snow!

Looks like the one that I have on my Kioti. What size is it? mine is a 66 inch made by woods.

You will love these front mounted blowers the best way to blow IMO.

I'd love to have a front blower!! Unfortunately, my tractor doesn't have a mid-PTO and I don't think one can be retro-fitted at the local dealer.
Very nice job getting that front blower set up!!!

Will you share how much? L2195?
I paid $2750 and had to drive from MI to CO.

I converted my craftsman garden tractor plow to something I could use with my massey. Just finished it yesterday.

Saw the video. Hmm, wondering if you may want to add some Float to the plow. It may not be much of an issue on the cement driveway but dirt/stone driveways need lots of float on an FEL setup to reduce scalping.

It's just for my own blacktop driveway, Tony. It's got a little float to it as is, but I'm planning on loosening the pivot it angles on to give it even more slop, hence more float.

This I will share, I priced a new with mid pto and it was $7800 plus tax. Minus mid pto $400 equals $7400 Plus tax. He was asking $4200 and I believe 1/2 price of new was fair. I paid less than half but more than you but he was 2 hours south of me with the exact same tractor model and tires. He had to pay a mobile mechanic to remove the 5th hose for chute motor (some models dont use the 5th hose) as he wasnt mechanically inclined.

Did you disconnect your lift cylinder before hauling? If it wasnt connected to your tractor the pressure from bouncing up and down at pivot may have caused hydraulic shock and affected the seals. I had to rebuild mine because of the shock and manual states to disconnect pins for transportation. (Read after I got it home)

On orangetractortalks I posted a thread on rebuilding and the tool I made to disassemble. The original hydraulic seal was an oring but replacement was a lip seal.
Messicks has kit for rebuild $35.

Regards

I suppose the same (travel bouncing) can be said for any cylinder. I did not rebuild mine. It does drift down, over the course of a day or two. Certainly not worth rebuilding to me...... I hauled it on a trailer, and the lift "tongue" (part that goes up and down, looks like a huge tongue) was on the deck of the trailer. Don't see how that could have been an issue. It's interesting though...

I too, had to get a mid-pto for $400-ish. I quoted a new one at like $8200 (but that would have been with the PTO). Pretty spendy. I kept track of what the trip cost me (gas was huge, hotels, food) and it was $1200, almost exactly. So, really, we're not even that far off. Mine was..........I dunno, 5 years ago. Dunno if that helps or hurts.

5th hose? I have 4.

My seller was not mechanical either. He bought it new, and literally never used it. he let me take the brackets off his tractor. The way that went down, I had to leave too-long bolts in his tractor (showing/telling him, so his dealer could come out and fix them) and then I had to buy longer bolts than my tractor had. I forget which brackets that was for (thinking the middle ones), but it was a little extra pain. If I'd have known, I could have pulled my bolts to give to him and kept his bolts. aah well.

All things considered, it's amazing it worked out. we built a trust with each other. To the point that I drove 13+ hours from home and that he let me "wrench" on his tractor. Heck, he wasn't even home when we (I brought a buddy with) started. Cool guy. Everyone was happy.

I spent a few hours hooking up the hydraulic powerpack and routing all the hoses for snow blower. Staged all the equipment in the lean to and moved all summer equipment into winter storage. Ill hold off on installing chains till ground refreezes. We have had 4 - 50f days in a row. All the early snow is gone except in the trees.

The tongue pivot point is where the cylinder raises and lowers the snowblower. So when trailering if you leave the cylinder pins in every time you hit a bump it pivots causing the cylinder ram to move and the hydraulic fluid has nowhere to go causing hydraulic shock. If it is not leaking fluid I wouldnt worry about it.

5th hose? I have 4. Some hydraulic chute motors have relief built in but they cost more others use a 5th hose (5 hydraulic hoses) for a relief which connects to the HST drain plug.

Sounds like a great time and a good deal considering it wasnt used hardly at all. There was one on ebay but it was installed but never used and it was $8400. I called the guy and he was a broker dealer selling for the owner. I made an offer but he refused. It was kinda funny as he was selling more than the cost for brand new..

I loved your setup. Unfortunately the Kioti deal I was working on fell through and then I found the Kubota but it was only 42 hp. I was considering the powerpack with hydraulic blower but a friend talked me into a pusher. Worked great and then I found the used front snow blower on CL.
