54 and falling thru 40s raining presently .40 inches since midnight

Do not like driving in northern Virginia especially near DC it is eat or be eaten. Northern Va gets most of the funding for road construction, SW Va not so much and our roads show it

Leaves are falling at a pretty rapid rate now soon time for removal, back got weed wacked yesterday, work to look at this afternoon

Prayers for all prayers for our country

Morning all! 34 here with the pellet stove humming along.

will be a mostly a putter day after a solid 6 hours of leaf clean up yesterday. Looks like quite the lousy week on tap as seen in the weather pic. We need the rain I'm being told by the weather guessers.
Nothing much going on here this week, will have the wife's car serviced and maybe a tire rotation done on the truck.
Need to pressure wash the porches at the apartment house, maybe that will be a good project with all this wet weather.

good wishes for all!

Here in east coast Canada the fall weather has been great for this time of year. We had 3 frosty morning at -2 c. (30 f degrees) other than that we have been blessed with highs of 12 to 18 degree c . (65 f temps).

good morning all. Much cooler morning, 42 out now going up to 52, with light rain coming in this afternoon and tonight. Wet weather ahead like Phil says.
I was going to water new grass seed but no need for that now.
Friday night looks like hard frost here and then weather clears up with sunny days.

slept pretty well last night though woke up with a headache. Tinnitus is really roaring even though I wore headphones the whole time yesterday.
Going to take it slow this morning though am itching to go plant some daffodils. Got my new Makita drill in with bulb auger, now where to plant all these bulbs.
Glad I got the bigger size auger, bulbs are bigger than expected. This box is just the daffodils, iris and tulips due in next week.

Randy, hope arm is healing. Do you still have the hat?

Kyle, hope you get Steiner home safely.

Buckeye, I remember my parents had one large Snowball Shrub in our front yard. Liked the big flowers.

Roy, can you get grease in linkage that was frozen now?

Rick, nice Polaris.

LS, mirrors look good.

Rich, yesterday breakfast looks good.

Prayers and best wishes to all. Special prayers for Jay, Kyles daughter and all those healing.

51 and raining. We're at our high for the day, and so will drop into 40s.

Rick, I like your Polaris...neat that they have a Texas model.

RNG, isn't that a good feeling when something you worked so hard on and invested so much turns out so well that you can think of it as your #1 purchase of the year? Roy, I'd bet you're gonna say that about your new tractor.

LS, nice mirrors...I'd be looking at them to see those mountains anytime I was facing east (southeast?) in your tractor.

Buppies, sorry I missed wishing you a happy birthday a couple of weeks ago. Hope it was special.

Scrubbed some more house and window trim yesterday to clean off the algae. I got so wet, combined with the smell of chlorine...closed my eyes and thought I was in a swimming pool.
Much more ladder time than before, so Eric, my feet are sore as well as my shoulders. Got a number of windows cleaned, using a different cleaning solution.

I upgraded my roasting software so I'll take a spin on the coffee roaster today. Then try to catch some World Series tonight...Kershaw v. Glasnow is a good matchup.

Forgot to answer bird feeder questions. I fill feeders 2 times a week. Suet 1 time a week. Takes about 5 gallons to fill all 4 feeders. All 4 are never fully empty. When the blackbirds finally head south the amount of bird feed will drop off about a gallon each filling. Last year I fed over 600 lbs. of bird seed. Well worth the cost. With all the entertainment and pictures I get of all the critters at feeders. I added one new feeder this year. Always seems to be the first one to be emptied. It is a little smaller than others and has a suet cake hold on each end. But the birds seem to like it better than the other 3.

Good morning! 48˚F heading to the mid 70s.

Kyle as temping as the road trip sounds I'll have to decline. I'm already committed for Tue and Wed and for me that would be 8 hours on the road. But be sure to take lots of pics and let us know the size of the Kubota motor and the condition of the mower.

I had to order a rain gauge like I left on the farm, the one that measures 100th inch of rain, to verify what I and thinking about the tempest weather station, that it only records about 1/2 of the rainfall. Then when I get the exact difference I'll have to figure out how to adjust it or get it adjusted, I'm still a little foggy on that procedure since it records rainfall by vibration.

Rick, my mom has a lot of sand burs in her yard. What is the best way to get rid of them and when is it done. When I had the sand burs I just pulled them out where I walked and never tried to treat a large area.

Drew, looks like you are prepared to make you new yard look like Holland, I'm sure you will have a nice crop of flowers in the spring.

I'm not quite sure why the college football coaches on the sideline want to protect their necks with facemarks.

Is anyone not going to celebrate Thanksgiving with family because of covid? Costco now sells the covid home test.

Good Morning!!!! 55F @ 4:15AM. Sunny. High 73F. Winds NNW at 10 to 20 mph.
Weatherman last night said we have the same wind conditions coming in today that fanned the Camp Fire flames just shy of two years ago. Wonderful. Still no rain in the ten-day.:(

Did everything fit in the trailer OK, Drew? We're on the edge of our chair out here!

That photo makes me wonder which got its name first, Ron, the bird or the priest?

"Dishonest hunters" = Poachers in my book, Thomas.

Even a blind pig gets an acorn once in a while, Bill.

I spend far more time grinding than welding, too. And paint is good. The thicker the better!

Looking forward to the big reveal on the 230, Kyle. Wish I could go along on the rescue mission!

That 72 x 80 piece is big enough for a small porch cover, David. Practice, and some YouTube videos, made me a better weldor. But I'm far from good.

Is that Polaris bigger than the standard one, Rick? I hear everything else in Texas is...

Rustoleum bought Wipe New, RS? I hope they improve the packaging. The two bottles I bought let it evaporate after a couple months, so no more of that for me.

Good idea with the basketball, Ted, and it even matches the rest of the tractor. Long as it doesn't interfere with the safety interlock in the seat...

Belt sander ate the throttle cam lobe, again, yesterday. There's too much gap between the table and the belt, but there doesn't seem to be a way to adjust it. So it's easy for tiny pieces to fall into the crack, and BANG! They get launched into some other dimension, and sometimes the belt explodes.

Finished the bracket for the coils, and another one for the new ignition control box. Used some nice thick aluminum sheet, and got some TIG practice. Number One thing for welding aluminum is to get it clean and shiny before welding. Otherwise a layer of oxide obscures the surface and you can't see when it melts. I like a stainless steel wire brush in the die grinder for cleaning, and keep it set aside for just cleaning aluminum.

Looks like the wind'll keep me inside for the next couple of days, so I'll keep plugging away in the garage with projects and cleanup. Might get the firewood dolly loaded up, too, as the temps are supposed to be dropping into the 40s tonight and a fire in the wood stove might feel good tomorrow morning.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend.:cloud9:

Grass burrs thrive in poor soil conditions Don. A good stand of healthy grass will usually crowd it out. Additionally .. using a pre-emergent in early spring helps a lot. As far as herbicicides .. Bayer Pastora works well but .. you need to be careful around trees and it kills Bahia grass.

Good morning,
the temp here is 25°F and going to a high of 37. Wind E 6 mph. Sunny.

A town run is in the cards for today and a trip into the local building center for 3 more 2x8s for the floor of the new greenhouse. with the floor down, I can pile the 1/2 ton of mulch on top of it for the winter.
I still haven't figured out where I am going to put the hoe, yet.

Have a safe and healthy day all
