Good Morning!!!! 65F @ 4:45AM. Sunny. High 83F. Winds NW at 10 to 15 mph.
Still under a Red Flag Warning, and power is set to be turned off in the next hour or two. Indications this one will last a day or so, but the wind returns on the weekend, so we'll have to see about that one when it comes.

You're laying the groundwork for a beautiful spring, Drew. Hope the augering is easy. All too well I know about rocks!

Redwing blackbirds are a sign of summer around here, Ron, and you captured a beaut!

Ammunition has been in short supply for quite a while over here, too, Eric. Too much political uncertainty and civil unrest has people back to stockpiling again. Sorry about your fingerprints, can't you type in a password somewhere instead? The newer iPhones have abandoned the fingerprint reader in favor of FaceID, but now everyone has to drop their mask to unlock their phone. Another boneheaded move from Apple's design team.

I think she was telling you how much she appreciated having the cushy part of the arrangement, Mike.

I haven't seen Lysol spray since the pandemic started, Don. Just checked at McMaster yesterday for real N95 masks, and they're still unavailable, too. As is anti-bacterial soap.

The shop teachers were pretty strict in making us scrape all the excess glue off our joints, Ted. Said it would chip the planer blades if we didn't, and our boards always had bumps from chipped blades they didn't have the funding to replace. I put an inexpensive Delta dust catcher on the small Delta planer I parked on an old 24" roll away, but I have to take light cuts or it'll clog. I think when it comes to vacuum dust collectors, there's no such thing as too much suck.

Glad you were prepared for that flat, Rick. My money is on the old sidewall repair being the culprit; all that flexing is hard on patches. Built a very similar cabinet way back in high school shop class. Now I park a little disc/band sander on it.

Looks like good progress, David. You'll know when you've spent enough time thinking about those cuts.

Finished last run of drip line on the roof yesterday. Seems like no matter how much time I spend thinking through what I'm going to do, I still end up on the roof needing to make another trip down and back up the ladder for something I forgot. Yesterday at HD I tried to buy caps for the drip lines but they didn't stock them. I wanted to put a T in at the bottom of each circuit and use the cap as a drain. Ended up getting little valves on 1/4" barbs instead. They'll work find, but will take longer to do the job. But I won't lose the cap!

The lighter throttle springs I ordered for the white bike showed up yesterday, so I'll be able to get the carbs mounted today and button up the intake system. Not sure what else is on the agenda, but I do need to make some phone calls and see to some paperwork. Be a good day to be inside, especially if the wind picks up as predicted.

Hang in there, gang, Friday's comin'!

Good morning all, 59 going to 72, rainy, misty, fog - still not supposed to be getting rain-but have been for the last 3 days.
Got nothing done yesterday, too wet. We will see if I can get moving today. We counted over 20 Ash trees in some state of dying, going to be a busy Winter as many will need to be taken down once I can get the brush cleared for access.

David- container looks so well integrated, nice update
Eric -pictures of your work- have never redone a whole wall, just pieces.
Roy-sorryto hear about tractor delay-do you get visitation time?
wngsprd - seems our trees are getting pretty thin on leaves-snake is really green, never seen one like that around here
Drew-good luck at Dr.- I plant less bulbs now as squirrels dig them up and deer eat them-so mostly daffodils

BEF - happy birthday again- :cake:seems you had a few this week

Stay well and be safe - off into the fog for a dog walk-the night was moist

Heard relays clicking on the UPSs while I was making that last post, and sure enough, power went off at 5:17AM. Otherwise, I wouldn't even have noticed.

Roy, I though something happened when I did not see a new pic of the tractor last night, Glad it was just a wrong part order. Now the patient wait till next week.

When I got the e-mail from the dealer, gotta admit I was concerned...but since the dealer had been acquired by United Ag and Turf, systems such as sales, parts and such, have changed...all on-line now. These guys at the dealer are old school...and things like this will happen.
Other then familiarizing myself with the controls, I won't have any real need for the tractor until the snow flies...as I wrote...bit of a bummer, but no real problems

it seems the market is full of KN95 masks, which are not genuine N95, seems awfully deceptive.
Anyone know the difference in the specs?

   / Good morning!!!! #120,648
I have been buying off brand disinfectant spray all along, same active ingredients as Lysol.

65 going to 80 today, seems like early summer. Not too much on the agenda today, a lot of boring small jobs.

My arm is still bleeding through bandages every few hours, hope that stops soon. I slept with press and seal wrapped around the bandage last night.

Gotta make an appointment to get Ellen’s car in for service.

Have a safe day.

59°F and clear skies with some spotty fog this morning, going up to 82° today. More rain coming again tomorrow. I guess mother nature is trying to make up for leaving us high and dry for over a month. Still OK with that.

I didn't get the rear wiper on mine, Roy, and sometimes wish I had. I think it'll be worth the wait, especially since you move a lot of snow.

Happy Birthday, BEF.

Glad your power system is working seamlessly, RNG.

Good morning to all! Low of 45, up to 74 today... no rain... However, the forecast is morphing daily. A temp roller coaster this weekend... high of 72 tomorrow, 60 for Saturday, 70 for Sunday, then the big hill .... drops to a high of 36 for Monday and Tuesday with snow showers. Temps at night starting Sunday will be in the mid teens..... this is supposed to be the forecast for Looking for New..... not here in the southwest....

Got the last boards glued up yesterday, then we attempted to go to the polls again. This time, no one in line, parked right in front. In and out in 10 minutes..... mission accomplished!

After returning home, unclamped the last glue up and cleaned up the shop. I won't get a chance to plane everything today, going into town to pick up the steel plate for the trailer, then get a couple sheets of plywood. Maybe, just a maybe, I'll have time to maybe play making a dust collector.....

Ron, beautiful pic of the blackbird.

Roy, sorry to hear about the delay getting the tractor.... "all good things come to those who wait".....

Drew, nice to hear about you getting settled into some normalcy. The mix of bulbs are going to look beautiful for sure!

WNG, are you allowed to get any seat time? Sounds like the wifey is really enjoying HER tractor!

RNG, is the power shut down just a precaution or is there a flareup of some of the near fires?

Ken, could you send some of that rain this way? Sorry to hear you have been stuck indoors...

Oh, I forgot... I got a pair of mirrors for the tractor yesterday... finally. That was the package that was traveling all over the country. So, after getting home later today, they might get put on instead of making a dust collector.....

Well, got to get moving.... everyone have a great day!

67F and fog @ 10:45 with sun trying to peek through, clearing up and headed to a high of 77F later today. Tomorrow supposed to be nice as well.

Has been cool, overcast, and wet for the last several days.

Encountered huge lines at BoE the other day when we went into to vote so we drove on past as The Woman wasn't willing to wait at that point. Turnout looks to be huge in Ohio overall. Nice that they had a significant portion of the parking lot covered with tents over the line so folks didn't have to stand in the open ...

Got some more metal straightening done on the discharge chute for the blower and chain cleaned, but mostly worked on straightening up shop. Got the junk in the parts washer removed and pump operating again, although it will probably need to be replaced (low flow) Solvent also needs drained and replaced and the tank itself cleaned out, due to the amount of sludge, oil, and grease in it. Thinking about replacing it with a water-based cleaner ... but open to any insights on that ... :confused3:

Need to refill bird feeders.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe day ...

67°F and no rain. This rainy season is off to a dry start.

Off to Hilo town this morning. Makani gets his 3 rd set of puppy shots, Kekoa gets his semi annual update. Do some shopping while there.

Need to drop ballots at PO.

UPS to deliver my security gateway for internet project.

Watch the big debate this afternoon

Doubtful there will be much project work.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

My wipers, on both tractors, get used to knock dust off more than rain.

RNG, is the power shut down just a precaution or is there a flareup of some of the near fires?

Since PG&E doesn't seem capable of maintaining their transmission infrastructure so that it will operate in a safe manner, they have to shut it off whenever the wind blows and the humidity drops. This is a direct result of deferring maintenance and upgrades for years beyond when they should have been done. But don't get me started...:irked:

Both front and rear wipers squirt washer fluid...
Being in Texas and the work you do is going to stir up a lot of dust...IIRC, you're in drought conditions which make matters worse.
I use the front wiper for rain occasionally (I normally cease mowing when the rain starts). The rear window wiper is probably going to be just when the snow covers the window (an occasional occurence when snow blowing)

Thinking about replacing it with a water-based cleaner ... but open to any insights on that ... :confused3:

I bought a used HF parts washer that the PO had been using with some kind of water based cleaning fluid. He didn't bother to clean and rinse it out after each use, and the pump innards were shot, and the inside of the tank was badly corroded. Unfortunately I trusted the seller when he told me it was good as new, and ended up trashing it.

I found another used washer, this one a home built at a motorcycle dealership, and use Stoddard solvent in it. It's a low vapor point solvent I get at a local fuel depot for about $5/gallon. The washer uses an automotive type filter in the supply line, and that seems to do a pretty good job of catching debris and keeping the fluid clean. But I haven't seen the bottom of that tank in quite some time, so it's probably overdue for a good cleaning, too.
