So...in my quest to spend aimless foolish money on my toy....errrrr tool that I keep in the garage I ordered in the stuff to begin the project of adding dual rear remotes to my GC1710. I ordered a wolverine cylinder for a hydraulic toplink, a bunch of qc's for the remotes and a summit hydraulics 2 spool valve...one with detent... To use as the controller. The good news is that having the backhoe hoses there will make finding the plumbing significantly easier vs a non-backhoe model. I'll take pics and share the experience as I go! Should be exciting!

Yeah the 1710 and 1720 have remotes or "power beyond" already in place, my dilemma was I wanted power beyond on my 1715 to run a log splitter (I know it would be slow) and the sales brochure even stated its available even gives a part number and AGCO or dealership does not seem to know anything about it....And on top of that diagrams for backhoe or power beyond in service manual (17xx series) is wrong....

Good luck in your adventure..

Here is a very good thread about doing exactly what you are about to attempt. There is a list of materials further down the thread, and a couple other links. Maybe it can be of some help for you. Good luck!

I've run across that thread. I have a number of changes in mind that I'll explore when the valve body gets here including trying to make the placement more ergonomic. Operating stuff while twisted like that makes my lower back hurt already. To put in a tilt cylinder I'll likely have to make my own after looking around which is likely why the gentleman in that thread didn't have one yet. Either that, or I can check with Fit Rite Hydraulics but they had a long wait time at last glance.

Yes, finding a tilt cylinder that will fit is difficult at best. If you have a larger dealer, they may be of help to find one. Fit Rite hydraulics definitely can make them, a bit pricey, but is custom made to fit.... after a long wait. Keep us posted with your progress.

So my valve, 2 hoses, fittings, and cylinders all arrived. After moving around the valve and considering the backhoe as well as operability from the driver's seat this is what I came up with. I can roll my hand back and control the levers while driving if need be.

For the mounting plate I uses a series of 12gauge steel and 1/8" angle/bar I had around to craft it. I wanted my legs free and comfortable while operating the backhoe as well access for fuel and keeping the valve active when plugging in the backhoe. (In case I want to make my thumb hydraulic on the backhoe I could simply use this valve which is also accessible from the seat when spun).

The valve is a summit hydraulics 2 spool, 1 with float, unit. It's an open center unit with power beyond which will allow me to keep it active regardless of what's attached

The cylinders are wolverine by prince. The one for the sidelink will need to be modified to put tangs on it to operate the tilt function. All in all everything looks great for tolerances/clearances.

Now ...to order the rest of the fittings to reconfigure the plumbing and get it all working.... Looks great so far! What cylinder did you get for the tilt? overall Dimensions of the cylinder?

Tilt was a wolverine by prince 1.5X4X1 with a retracted Length of 11.25 with swivel eyes. I feel confident that by the time I cut off the swivel eye and weld on tangs Ill be right on. Only way to know for sure is to do the work which I may get to this weekend.

At first I was concerned with how narrow a cylinder this is but after mocking it up today it's tight and I'm not sure. I could comfortably use a thicker cylinder if I wanted to.

Thanks for the info..... I will look that one up. I just can't bring myself to pay $450 for a "premade" one.

I'll make it easier on ya. Check out surplus center...part #9-12229-4. It's about $85.

So this fun project just gets more and more exciting. The power beyond hose that gets plugged into the power hose when you disconnect the backhoe is showing some serious fatigue. Traced the line up under the middle of the tractor and had to order a new hose to replace it and a fitting to change the coupler type. Hose wasn't leaking...yet... Last order placed for a few fittings and a hose and I'll be golden. Made up some new brackets that need paint once everything is assembled and test fitted. Should have those wrapped in another week by the time I can get back to it. I'll be exited to get this part done so I can turn my attention to the hydraulic sidelink project that's part of this.PXL_20201025_160855874.jpgPXL_20201031_174704985.jpg

Wow, when I opened the first pic, I first thought you disassembled half the tractor! :eek:Then, finally focused in....

Did that hose have a sharp bend in it? .... that was definitely close to bursting. How many hours?.

The valve assembly mount and position looks great! I am awaiting the next round of final pics! Oh, thanks for the side link info...

cglaser, Nice clean addition to your tractor.

Are you using the lines from the backhoe to plumb your new valves or are you running new lines so the valves are functional when you have the backhoe installed?

How much more time do you think it will take you to remove your top n tilt valves for the installation of your backhoe?

I'll have to inspect my backhoe lines better and with a flashlight.

I'm plumbing the tractor so the backhoe will plug in like normal into quick connect block and the new valve will always be active. I have traced and identified all the lines to make sure I know where everything is going. I've always detested the hanging lines out the back and am working to resolve that moving forward. What I'll have to do is carry a jumper hose to connect the power & power beyond like you would connect the hoses normally. (It'll make sense when you see the pics)

Once it's all done the tilt cylinder should be able to stay like the manual one would and the top cylinder will unclip like a normal toplink plus 2 quick connect hoses.

Yes, I hate the 3 loose looping hoses that will connect to the backhoe.

That's a good idea you have, sounds like your going to fix mount the three loose hoses and use an additional short hose to make the connection when the backhoe is off.

And use three short hoses to make the backhoe connection to the fixed couplers on the tractor.

If I got that right?

That's correct. Additional short hose to make the connection. I'll permanently extend the hoses from the backhoe to the block but won't get to that until the work is done on the tractor itself.

It had the normal loop in it. It's a 2015 with 410hrs on it. I use bungie ties to hold the hoses to the toplink as most of my time in the tractor is for rest implement and loader work all they are constantly in motion as I articulate the 3pt. I mow with it rarely do the hoses are always tied so they don't get pinched which I have done before and had to replace a hose.

So I finally got everything fit and assembled. First test of the hydraulic function worked flawlessly with both cylinder connected.

Next step to fine tune the bracket that will be were I plug the backhoe into. My first iteration doesn't quite allow me to route the hoses where I want and need to for proper clearances. The hoses are also just a bit to close to the tire so I wanna tighten it up and resolve that as well.PXL_20201106_005259375.jpgPXL_20201106_005309345.jpg

Lol if you like it now wait till you see it painted in its final form with the T'n'T setup on it!

Edit: once done I'll leave detailed instructions and a parts list for what I did and how I did it.
