Tie Rod End Internal Adjustment ??

This tie rod end pic that I stole from Aliexpress, shows cotter pins with several insertion positions. Does this imply that the tie rod end has end play adjustment built in? Mine sure are sloppy.

Yes, If you take t cotter key out, you can screw in the piece with a slot to tighten it up some, however if it has been loose and not greased your not going to gain much on it, so when you replace it if you have to you will know you can adjust

They used to offer rebuild kits. Some had a inner and outer cup you could replace.

Recently, the tie rod ends at each tire, were at their loosest settings. The slot across the top of the tie rod end would not hold any tool I have, except for a flat stamped steel wrench (spanner) from either a die grinder or an angle grinder. The fingers of these wrenches fit perfectly into the ends of the slot atop the tie rod end. Had to turn it clockwise from above with an adjustable wrench. Each 1/2 turn I pulled up on the tie rod end to check for slop. After around 2-3 turns, there was no slop left. The steering was greatly improved.
