Started to snowblow my driveway and had a hard time steering then started to slide sideways down my drive.
The tie rod end lost its castle nut and came out. Part of the cotter pin was still in the tie rod.
I have to take a closer look but thought would ask here any better replacements for the tie rod end ?

Update:
The castle nut came off the tie rod end. The threads were wiped clean, the threads on the tie rod end were half there. No other signs. Replaced tie rod end and everything works.
Dealer told me normal wear and tear....
Anyone have any thoughts on what might have caused this ?

I should of added it is a bx-24 from about 2006

Shearing tie rod threads isn't normal wear and tear. Either a part was out of spec (the rod end or the tie rod) or there were some serious side impacts to the tire at some point.

talked to a mechanic and he said it was probably loose from the factory and over the years just wore the pin

I lost the nut off my tie rod end on my little Massey Ferguson, the end flopped about in it for awhile apparently before popping out ... I did an emergency field repair and ordered 2 new tie rod ends, as the boots were ripped up from running over multi-flora roses ...

The other side didn't have a cotter pin in it, not sure if it ever did? I added a piece of wire when I "fixed" the other side ...

The side that popped off was pretty beat up ...

Then I put the new ones on!

On my BX23 happened to notice a loose tie rod wiggle…

One side nice and tight and the other loose and sloppy…

Maybe catching it early and tightening the nut headed off a big problem…

I was washing my BX23s and l lifted the front tires with the FEL last summer and the Tie rod had the cotter pin in the nut.
So it came from the factory line and never got torqued properly. Can't believe i never noticed how freaking loos it was. So check them guy's. I can't have the only one to ever role off the assembly line this way.

Hey, does anyone know the size of the castle nuts these things use?

I have a B7500 but it looks identical to this. I was hoping to grab one from a local parts store and avoid ordering online. I've found the part online but not the actual description of the actual nut size. Have tried some common nuts and they aren't quite right so I think it may be an odd ball.

I think I just inferred my way into an answer. Found another post here: https://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/threads/bx-steering-something-to-watch-out-for.446459/

where someone had similar on a BX23. Checked the parts list for the BX23 and it's the same castle nut as specified on the B7500 series parts list: Part # 66591-56780. So if their finding is accurate as it seems, then it's a 3/4-24 castle nut. Figured I'd answer my own question here to make it easier for someone else to find in the future. (Probably me when I lose another one in a few years lol)
