Trying to decide on the best cultipacker for my needs.

I will be establishing new food plots in sandy Gulf Coastal Florida along roadways, between pine rows, and in a few to be cleared openings. There is not currently any established flat seed beds. So I am thinking that I will rent a tiller for the initial prep work and first planting, then plan to transition to a no till program to improve our terrible soils.

I have both a 32hp Kubota and an ATV to use.

I am trying to decide between a pull behind Packer Maxx poly packer or equivalent conventional pull behind, or am I better off going 3pt 15 smooth wheel conventional cultipacker?

Also wondering why I do not see the no till plot guys using roller crimpers instead of cultipackers in general?

I've a tow behind packermaxx for about 12 years now and it was probably one of the best investments I ever made. I really like the idea I can just fill the thing with water when needed. Cultipackers are expensive for what you get. Personally I like my tow behind 4 footer. I just pull it around with my 4 wheeler. It's small enough that "lack" of maneuverability is a not issue. Most no-tillers don't have to worry about packing because they will usually have press wheels are a weighted roller right behind them.

Thanks for responding with your experience. Couple questions since you致e got 12 years of use with it.

Have you used a regular cultipacker to compare functionality to the PM?

Do you utilize no till plot management? If so, does it sufficiently crush the cover crop? Most no till plot guys (at less the ones that sharetheir knowledge) seem to broadcast then pack by laying over a cover crop on top of the broadcast seed. Never see too much of the no till equipment like roller crimpers and the planter you mentioned above. Not sure if it痴 a lack of need or lack of equipment?

I can definitely see the advantages of the PM and it痴 maneuverability behind a ATV.

Thanks again for sharing your experience.
