Top link extension on the tractor.

I have a very similar issue. I've got a L5740 that I put Pat's on. Had to order a longer TL. I just got an M7060 and plan to put Pat's on it.

I figured someone must have figured out a good solution and found this thread: http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/attachments/105421-extended-top-link-pats-ezchange.html

I am learning to weld and this looks like a great project for a beginner. I've a friend that owns a shop and he can cut the steel for me.

I'm surprised that these adapters are not readily available.

OP, the factory TL on both my tractors has one end that is cat 1, the other is cat 2. The pin attaching it to the tractor is cat 1. If using on a cat 1 implement, a bushing is required. The longer TL I ordered (off Amazon) is cat 1 on both ends. It works with almost every implement I have. My disc requires a cat 2 connection but, luckily, the factory TL is long enough for it.

Some measurements I recently took:

L5740 factory TL = 21.25 - 33
Replacement claims 29 - 39 (I didn't take it off to measure)

M7060 TL = 19.5 - 28.5

I've recently ordered hydraulics from Fit Right. Looking forward to the convenience that will offer.
I don't have the hydraulic top link, but the particular bush hog I have needs a extra long top link. I purchased this extra long top link when I used a Ford 2000. I then used it on my Ford 3910. Oddly, I did not need it with the Mahindra 5035 I had prior to my new 2018 Kubota M7060HD12. I have to use the extra long top link again. My tractor is supplied with Cat 2 and most of my implements are Cat 1. I bought several Cat 1 x Cat 2 bushing adapters. I couldn't use the Kubota bushings on several of my implements because the tolerance was too tight and they wouldn't slide over the implement pins. My tractor also has Cat 1 top link pin at the tractor and Cat 2 at the implement end of the adjustable link. Pics are of both top links. IMG_20180417_165419966.jpegIMG_20180514_125736005.jpeg

Gee willies - I've never had problems with my top link on either tractor. The manual top link on my Ford 1710 was great, the manual top link on my M6040 worked fine on all eight of my implements and so does the hydraulic top link.

Two things seem to surface - I don't have an type of quick attach system and I don't have a rotary cutter.

Yes, on both our L3800 and our MX5800 we have had issues with the top link not being long enough after we installed the Pat's quick-connect system, which puts the 3PH about 4 1/2" farther back from the tractor. I finally found and bought from Tractor Parts, Inc. a top link with a 24 body and a 39 total length, their item # HIU10-0004. It works well. In case you want to try to find one and don't see it on the Tractor Parts, Inc. web site, my order was fulfilled by Reliable Aftermarket Parts, Inc. The plastic sheath in which the top link was delivered had é„*tlantic Quality Parts on it. Also on the sheath was å…¸op Link 3013-1503, then 3013-1503, and the è¿*eference Number: JSA1024? I looked Atlantic up and it has the top links on its web site but is only a distributor and doesn稚 sell directly to the public. But on the Atlantic web site you can find out vendors from which you can buy whatever is on Atlanticç—´ web site.

Hello,

Not sure when you'll get this but I just wanted to pass along thanks for posting this information! I own an MX5800 as well with the Pats and I really enjoy being able to use those to hookup but have run into problems with some attachments and hooking up with the OE top link. I'm looking forward to this product. I ordered through tractor parts inc. (looks like it's now called reliable aftermarket parts) online and was able to get a 10% off coupon to boot & free shipping! Appreciate the sharing of the information to help make life a little easier.

Thanks again, Jason

So, the bottom line of this 2 year excursion into top link issues is that Quick Attach 3pt hitch invention like Pat's etc. change the geometry from world-wide standards and you often have to compensate if using those quick connect accessories. I'd rather use the hydraulic top link if you have a Remote handy to drive it and the cash to spend for one. I'd sure rather put $ into a hyd top link than putting any $ into a non-std longer manual top link.

Since receiving my hydraulics from Brian at Fit Rite all issues have been resolved. Having used them I consider them an important accessory.

Brian and I talked about the situation and I ordered lift links for both tractors and one toplink that works for either tractor. Mowing is about the only operation where we use both tractors at the same time. The mower I use on the M7060 is a semi-mount and doesn't have a connection to the top link.

My only issue with the hydraulic top and tilt was the time it took to receive them. Brian is upfront about this so it was no surprise. I'm glad I endured the wait.

You must have plenty of remotes. I rarely / never need to change angle and thus no need for the hyd lift link. I use the hyd top link all the time and consider it a great improvement for just about all things I ever put on the rear. Indispensable for the box blade, handy for the bush hog and for the flail mower. By the way, with the flail mower it allows you adjust depth/height of cut from the driver's seat. [I leave the roller in one permanent bolted position and never adjust roller height.]

I have three remotes on each tractor. I needed that because I have my wing mower plumbed so that I can lift one side independently of the rest in order to go over culverts or get along the water's edge of the pond.

Most useful thing about the lift link is that I can put the landscape rake on, angle it, lower to the crown then put the right lift arm in float and the rake will recover gravel from the side of the drive but not remove the crown.

There are lots of other uses but that is the main one, for me.

Big YES right here!!!! Would hate to use my batwing in any other configuration!!!!

You'll have to explain to me how the forces have increased?

That would imply that if you are using an attachment that requires the top link be lengthened there would be greater forces?
