I didnt build a roller, but its kinda close :) This was a 16" piece of sch. 80 pipe. It is now my new pasture aerator (yes I can fill with water, if needed) I cut out the end plates then found center and mounted my stub axles. The bearings are frame mounted using the same spacing off of the main tube. The tines are placed in a v-shape and are 1/2" plate, 4" long View attachment 647667View attachment 647665View attachment 647663View attachment 647664

This thing looks SOLID and mean! Looks like you're running it on a bobcat? Bet it does a good job.

I built it on a ssqa but I have an adapter for 3 pt to ssqa so I can use it on the front or back. Just finished building and its too wet to use it right now. Did a small demo run and it seems to be a very nice cross between a spike and plug type.

I guess you are happy with your welder now.

Yes. It has been working great. And I love that it is easier to pick good settings on, versus my stick welder. I'm sure if I had a chart for that it might be easier, but there's so much I didn't know until I started investigating MIG.

Did you build that adapter too?

With help, I sometimes rely on the generosity of my friends. That adapter is 5/16 plate. One of my friends has an old shear that will cut up to 3/4", a 100 ton press for 10' wide material and a 8' roller that accepts up to 3/8" plate. He likes good beer and bourbon. And yes, the cheap so/so does make me buy my own material.

I'm curious - since you filled the tank with concrete, why do you need the tank? Wouldn't a cardboard sonotube work just as well? you'd still need end pieces to hold the concrete in, but those could be made from plywood and you'd have the centers already marked when you cut the circle.

With concrete, it would be susceptible to impact damage (ie: spalling) when you found a rock.

I got the old softener tank for free from my BIL and it was the inspiration to build the roller. I'm sure there are other ways to accomplish something like this but this is what arrived to me and I went with it.
