More positive cases showing up in SWVa where none had existed before, we are up to 304 state wide believe this week governor will impose shelter in place this week

The concern I have with "targeted" shelter in place orders for densely populated urban areas (that are epicenters) is those who can leave the area will migrate to find a place that is still "normal". This will put rural areas at greater risk. The urban "escapees" will be going to rural stores to get supplies and spread the virus. And I do not see the roads out of these cities being "locked down".

We do not welcome "outsiders" in the rural area I live in as is. It took me a couple of years to get accepted once I moved here over 7 years ago. I can see conflicts arising.

In a similar vein. My son's gf works in a hospital in NYC. She is scared and wants to leave NYC to join him in Michigan. Not thrilled with that but I understand his desire to try to protect her. But when I asked him if he has enough food for them to both quarantine for 14 days he said no. Even smart people are not thinking things through. He has plenty of money, but does not think like me in terms of preparedness.

I wonder if our "freedoms" are gong to bite us in the butt.

Should we assume then, that should you become infected with COVID-19 and develop serious complications - may Heaven forbid - you would forego being removed to one of those “urban areas” for advanced medical treatment, were whatever paltry medical resources that exist in your area to be completely overwhelmed ?

My post was to highlight how the virus can be spread and also to make others aware that in some areas "outsiders" may not be welcome. This "resentment" to outsiders is present under the best of times. This "resentment" may not be justified but it is there...I have seen it. Many citiots, who barely know their neighbors 25 yards away, do not realize the dynamics are different where everyone knows each other for miles. I was one of those citiots, so speak from experience. Maybe the remote area I live in is unique...but I doubt it. You can accept my experience or ignore it...your choice. It is a fact here.

Secondly, the way things are shaping up, there is little to no chance of being transferred to an large urban center for treatment of this virus. The hospitals there are soon to be overwhelmed so the option becomes moot. In my opinion, I will be safer staying out of a hospital full of Coviid-19 patients, having someone pick up whatever drug(s) are suggested, and medicating at home. I will take my chances in my little slice of heaven. If you feel safer near a large hospital, stay there...you could be right.

Thirdly, if the virus is slowed getting to rural areas, those areas have a higher probably of benefiting from advancements in treatment that are being made. We know social distancing works. Some folks may go a step farther and consider anti-social distancing is a good way too effect that.

Fear makes people do stupid things.

There is just so few concrete things that we know about what is behind COVID-19 and every time some new news story runs it just raises more questions it seems. Lot of local stories about people who had the flu last fall but tests would come back negative. I think we have been spreading this virus for at least 6 months now.

Maybe the UV lamp box is a good idea after all.
