You're assuming that because we don't list our credentials at the top of a post, we must not have anything germane or relevant to add to the conversation. Most of us have day jobs outside of tractor driving that may be quite relevant to the topic at hand.
I have no expertise relevant to the virus but I've had a lifelong respect for science and the value of doing thorough research back to primary sources, as a basis for forming an opinion. That outlook has served me well in several environments.

The charts etc that rswyan and others post seem credible, and suitable for making rough forecasts, based on the underlying data.

I do not know if anyone else have mentioned this, but in early Jan, my grandaughter got sick, then I got sick, and them my daughter and son in law got sick.

We all figured it was the flu, but different than any flu we had felt before.

Headaches, back aches, sore throat, cough, and it settled in the lungs.

It went on for 2-3 weeks, never really thought about it untill reading through this thread......

Wonder if it had reached us sooner than we thought, and I live in the heartland.

Certainly possible ... new tests being developed should certainly shed some light on it ... and probably will provide additional tools to understanding and fighting this monster.

A kid who licked toilets as part of the #CoronaVirusChallenge says he's now in the hospital with coronavirus. @gayshawnmendes was also just suspended from twitter

The US will reach 100,000 #COVID19 cases & > 900 deaths by Friday, March 27, w/ doubling rates of 2.4 & 3.5 d, respectively. -> #1 in the world.
Recall that South Korea & US had their 1st patient diagnosed on Jan 21/22 (within 24 hrs). The Δ for SK vs US was testing + tracing

One of my karate students had a similar bug around that timeframe too. at the time she was diagnosed with severe bronchitis. I've been thinking maybe that she had covid19 since this all blew up. Thankfully she was only down about 3 weeks and no other students got ill. No karate for the past 2 weeks either, I hope my students are in the clear.

I had a flu that felt different too.
It was pretty mild, but went on for maybe 2 weeks of just a 'minor crud'.
I have wondered if I got some early strain. (and hope that means I now have a resistance).

Pretty darn disappointing we didn't have any test kits then (or now).
China had them.

Me too. The weeks before Valentine's Day. Nothing severe but tired, congested, lightheaded. Most of all, concerned that I could only breathe shallowly but sufficient for staying in during the rain. Then a few days later, I tired easily working outside. Different from anything I remember.

Well it would be nice to have the antibody test readily available. It is coming, but may take a while. The question is though, if you do take an antibody test, and then find out you DIDN'T have it uh would you feel better or would you feel more threatened? Since some are saying we are all going to get it, I would think you would feel better if you tested positive for it. Like, 'whew, I lived thru that" and go on with life.

Well I've just returned from my weekly 'Wednesday' run into town for mail/groceries/whatever.

Traffic was down... even got 'Hollywood parking' in front of the Post Office. The only mail was a case of wine that I ordered last week. :proposetoast::proposetoast:

Topped up the ute with petrol... prices have come down a wee bit but the big surprise was distillate has dropped at least 5 cents to A$1.49 a litre.

After this past weeks leading news stories of panic buying, empty shelves and roving *Asian*-filled mini-busses, I admit that I approached shopping with some trepidation. Not so. I managed to get everything on my list and everyone was pleasant, patient and courteous. Plenty of dunny-roll too, although only a couple of brands. Still, it was good quality stuff.
-----------------------------------------

Our Prime Minister and the State Premiers/Territory Commissioners have truly be working flat out, along with everyone else who work for government. Mistakes have been made or unanticipated (you don't cause 1.5+ million people to go on the dole, at once, without large queues forming to claim 'unemployment') but they're addressing them.

One interesting 'numbers ban' was announced last night regarding weddings and funerals. Weddings are to be 5 people = celebrant, marrying couple, 2 witnesses.
Funerals are limited to 10 people... although I don't know if that includes the corpse? :)

Minister and music person, undertaker just leaves 6 mourners... Guess that will have to do..

Here's a chart in a SF Chronicle article today. California had some of the earliest cases then NY passed it a couple of weeks ago.

Unknown if we are simply days behind NY, if the earlier shutdown slowed the curve, or if NY's greater urban density causes quicker contagion.

NY has tested 3x as many people so that can explain some of the difference.
