Is that 80% a worst case scenario? Wife and I are high risk senior citizens so if 80% happens our days are likely numbered!

Why? if 80% contract it that means 20% don't.
Even in that 80% most will survive,
even most of the seniors that contract it will survive.
Especially with testing and research on going to aid in the survival rates.
Heck a great many people on this board and the majority of people that I know are in the high risk seniors.
Heck I have 7 siblings the youngest is in her 60's, one of my brothers had chemo this past winter and a stem cell transplant he has no immune system.
Both my wife and I have heart issues and copd as well as being seniors we are going to keep on living taking reasonable precautions, we haven't even gone to see the grand kids this month.
I'm certainly not going to hide behind closed drapes, fortunately I do live in a rural area.
But I also do much of the parts running for the farm and I'm not going to stop.

I understand your concern. But everything we know, and it undoubtedly is not enough, says it doesn't just spread in the wind. The Chicom's say the majority of their spread was by family members. I don't put a lot of stock in the Chicom's data, but doesn't it make sense that high urban population density having way more spread than low population density seem to bear that out?

Yes it does make more sense. more people = more virus

Why? Because my wife is diabetic, with damaged heart and kidneys. She's in the ultra-high risk category. That's why. We also live in a rural area and feel safe here. We are really stressed about going to town for essentials.

Good point.

Today my wife was checking with me at each step of ordering groceries to be delivered. Last step, she asked me what's our email password. Noooo! You need to create an account/password on the grocery site before the order is accepted, NOT give them our email and then its password!!!

I think you're right about endless scams.

Try to imagine what it would be like going through this crisis/ordeal without modern Internet/cell phone technology...

Not being able to corroborate everything going on would be misery...

The best strategy re phone scammers is to NEVER answer the phone unless the caller is known (via Caller ID). When you answer a scammer call he puts your number into a computer and sells it to other scammers who will call you even more.

My trick for telemarketers is to say, "Hold on a second please.", then set the phone down and go about my business.

I see the President is talking about backing off on social distancing so the economy can get going again. From what we see in other countries, social distancing is absolutely essential to controlling the virus. On the other hand, it is loony to think this can go on for more than a few weeks. My wife and I are ok, we are retired and can go on for months with weekly trips for fresh food. But families in the workforce need income. And nothing the Washington politicians can come up with ("stimulus") is going to help them make it through. Unless they start paying people directly the wages they no longer can earn. So as I see it, letting people go back to work is the most likely outcome after another few weeks at the most. This will doubtless spread the virus but I do not see a viable alternative.

I don't know if it is face to face or teleconference. I am not invited. AND wouldn't go if I was:)

As you know there is no real industry here in Branson, except tourism. I am sure this is weighing heavily on their mind.

I was thinking about that as we had conversations about my wife and I down in that area last year. It's gotta be hurting the local economy.

If you go to the grocery store...other than the self check out...how can you stay 6' from the cashier?...who by the way has to handle all your items...after handling the items of the person that was ahead in line...

Our stores are starting to put black tape X's or lines every 6' in the checkout line. Kinda nice, if you think about it.

Hospitals by nature are problematic... this is why outpatient surgery is a great alternative in that you have to be healthy to proceed...

And you don't have to stay there any longer than necessary. Any time spent in a hospital is more exposure time to a lot of bugs.

We have to question the validity of that "six feet distance" everybody is quoting. If somebody with the virus is outside and sneezes what would prevent the virus from going miles?!
Still working on spreading fear and panic?

The Chloroquine and HydroxyChloroquine help shuttle Zinc into the cells. Zinc interferes with/stops the viral RNA transcription inside the cells and halts the proliferation of the virus. Provided the diet is sufficiently high in Zinc this will be an effective treatment.
That's unknown ... speculation ... TV talk show stuff. Turn the TV off and you'll find the world to be a better place.

They didn't want YOUR password to YOUR email. They surely wanted your email address, and A password for the grocery site so you could check back in and as a way for them to communicate with you.

My trick for telemarketers is to say, "Hold on a second please.", then set the phone down and go about my business.
My goal/strategy is to try to get them to hang up on me.

I've found a fool proof way. When they call, I speak to them in Spanish and say I don't speak English (I'm fluent - sort of, in Spanish).

They dutifully transfer me to someone that speaks Spanish. I then ask why on Earth they are speaking to me in Spanish? I don't speak Spanish, I speak English. They usually apologize and start speaking English, at which point I go back to Spanish, telling them I'm really sorry but I don't speak English and don't understand them.

Usually after a couple of rounds of this they get exasperated and hang up.

Me for the win! I've never been unsuccessful in getting a telemarketer to hang up on me when I do this.
