Finally Had some time to work on the old YM2210 and got some paint put down :cool2: . I still need to paint the wheels and the box scraper, I redid the dash and added some gauges.

I really envy you guys with clean tractors. An especially a repaint as nice as that. My Yanmars are dead reliable. But both were ugly as sin when I bought them, and are beyond cosmetic restoration.

That looked like Great Basin terrain - but I see I missed by a few hundred miles. Mojave desert then?

I appreciate the kind words on my tractor!! My tractor was in pretty bad shape with all the old layers of paint and rust, nothing the good old DA sander cant handle. I still need to get some fender lights and switch, but Im happy with the look and cant wait to start moving some dirt:dance1: yes im in the Mojave desert,

Maybe consider adding your general location (Mojave desert?) to your profile?

Paint job looks awesome. I tend to agree on the cleaner white over the antique white. I dealt with some rust on one front wheel back a few months ago and when with a cleaner white. I taped off the tire after pressure washing that one wheel. It was such a pain that I have not done the others.
Maybe if the rain ever lets up it will may be a spring project this year.

Thank you! Painting wheels can be a pain one thing I learned to make it easier if you take flashcards like 4 x 6 flashcards and you line the wheel with those Around the bed so it’s not so much taping , you can use the paint swatches from say Walmart ,Home Depot grab a handful of those in line the wheel makes it a lot easier.

Those blow all over the place if outside. I tried that once. It worked but was not really that fast or easy.

Something a guy just told me to do today is to use flashing. Get yo a roll of it from Lowe's and make a circle and tape it. Then you can just go from rim to rim. Those index card fall all over the place and if you have any breeze or not much of a lip they don't work well.

I do tape them down when i get them in place, Has worked well for me in the past, but i dont paint outside. I do like the Flashing idea, i will need to try that. Thanks

Nice tip. I have since I painted that one wheel on the tractor, picked up a manual tire changer for a very reasonable price I thought. I needed to change the front tires on the tractor and install some on some small wheels. I actually spent less on the cheap tire changer than the table I planned to purchase. Back issues make the constant bending and getting up and down more difficult.
Any way I am rattling on, with the tire changer, I have broken down (1 side at a time) some steel wheels for a friend to paint some steel wheels. By breaking down the one side at a time (reseating prior to the other) wheel/tire balance is unaffected on high speed tires) it makes it easy to get heavy paper behind the wheel covering the tire. Someone will wonder why not remove the tire. Tubes are a pain if you do not have to move them.

Just kidding. Here's a pic of my 2210DB as it sat last summer ready to mow. Over the winter I Had the cylinder head gone over and machined flat again to remedy a leaking head gasket. And while I was in there I honed the cylinder liners to freshen them up, put new rings, rod bearing, and small end bushings in. I also rebuild the out portions of the front drive axle since they were all floppy and loose. So it's all back together and ready to go, just need spring to catch up here so I can get out and use it. Great job on yours, you'll really like that model. They do more work that you would think for such a compact unit.
