Best/reasonably priced grapple?

I bought this one MTL Attachments Compact Tractor Skid Steer 48 Root Rake Grapple Bucket-Free Ship | eBay for $890 shipped to my office. I have been happy with it. It weighs approx. 350 lbs which leaves a good bit of lift left on my BL25R Loader. I paired it with the Ultimate Diverter Valve kit from Ken Ken's Bolt on Grab Hooks <<Hydraulics>>

350 lbs and 41 inch opening for $890 and no shipping costs is a GREAT deal. People are paying way too much for premium priced grapples.

I don't know what kind of steel mine is made from, but I'd rather it give before my loader does. Lol

For those that were asking, I went with the 60in width.

I've had one of these for three years and wouldn't want anything else for my DK45. It's light, strong and on and off in minutes. If you want pretty this is probably not the one but functional is what it is.

I think I'm going to end up going with the 60" one or whatever for $999. My local John Deere dealer called and said they just got the Westendorf Brush Crusher in from a dealer repo and said he could sell it at a discount since they got it cheaper. I'm going to go check it out tomorrow before I decide. Said he'd probably even let me use it if I wanted to try it out. So we'll see what happens!

This does seem like it could be a good grapple, plus its made here in the US. I wonder what kind of steel it is made from. I could find no mention of it anywhere on their website. If it is a good quality hardened steel, that would seem to be a pretty good deal!

The RK5 I bought from them says it's built with "High Strength Steel A36". Not sure if that is standard on their other grapples.

I think you will find that they do have hydraulics. Likely a built in splitter instead of true 3rd Remote.

Ahhh, nice find. I see they require you to unbolt your curl cylinder and bolt it to their grapple. So technically, it does not have hydraulics, but does require them to operate. :thumbsup:

Looking at buying a grapple for my 4520C. Will probably just run a longer hose to the rear remote rather than having a separate SCV added up front. Or....kind of looking at the Westendorf Brush Crusher. Anybody have any insight on the Westendorf?

Well....I went and checked out the Westendorf. I still think it's too much. Would be nice not having any hydraulics to mess with. But, there's a fella that sells Brute Grapples up in Wisconsin and he has the 72" grapple for $875 I believe. I would need to have hydraulic hoses made to run to the rear SCV, but that could be done for about $200 I think. So I think I'm going to run up there next week on one of my days off. Look like a pretty stout product. Anybody have a Brute grapple?

I bought one of these: Tomahawk Attachments :: Tomahawk 66" Two Cylinder Brush Grapple a couple of years ago. No complaints. I picked it up at the factory and had no shipping costs.

They are a (made in USA) manufacturer of grapples for other retailers, but can sell direct for less.

You can call for specific pricing. They seem to have a very good product reputation.

If your tractor has a skid steer loader attach plate (as most do) you can use any attachments built for skid steers.
I will buy one of the MS grapples this Spring, but I do not own a skid steer.

Mmmm... theoretically although most skid steers achieve higher hydraulic flow than your typical CUT. That means that if the attachment is designed for a skid steer it could be somewhat slow and/or weak when attached to a compact tractor.

That one I was looking at is for a bigger tractor. My loader is rated for almost 4k lbs, and will actually lift a fair bit more. The link was mostly provided as a link to the company.

Your RX is rated for 3300 to full height. A 1200 pound grapple is going to seriously compromise the lifting ability of that size machine. I had a 1700 pound grapple on a 95-2 Kubota CTL and I hated that thing. It was way too big. I’ve got a 600 pound ar400 grapple on my 3800 pound rated M59 and it’s a much better fit.
