We are in the process of adding a 6ft plow to our 800 6x6 Polaris big boss. This will mainly be used with pods (you might call tracks) and resided within the lake S snow belt, so yes, it will get used. If anyone cares to see this process happen, just let me know and I'd post details and photos.

I've got the plow for the Polaris boss 6x6 patched together and in the test mode. Below is a few photos. I had to customize the belly plate to make it work. Plus build the entire push frame since none are available for a 6x6 with pods on it. The plow was a used moose I picked up that's 6ft wide.

The views of the push frame were taken before done so it got reinforced much after these shots were taken.

Here is photos of the cable lift system which I plan to change to flat belting in the future. In the 2nd one, you can see how 1x3/8 flats were welded to the bottom push/pivot plate and the rest of the push frame was reinforced. The Moose frame was bent, broke and trashed! So I'm trying to beef it up compared to how they did it.
Sorry about all the snow in the photos.

Good Morning Arlyn. That's a large blade. With the pods on your 6x6 that must be a real snow pushing machine.

Over the weekend I was pushing snow in the yard because we thought we might need the trailer. I've got more work to do with this setup but the pods will take the machine and snow its pushing right up snow piles. These photo were taken at dust and most are live so much blurring occurred.

Seems you characters have interest in this goofy project so I'll keep posting updates. :) Looks like I'll be in the metal shop just after Christmas to fix/build items for this. The lift cable will be replaced with a flat, poly, tow strap so the snatch block sheave setup will need to be refitted for that. I'm also adding a super bright green strobe beacon plus 2 LED lights facing rear and forward. Thank you for all your kind comments!

On Thursday, looks like I'll get back into the school metals shop and work on items for the plow. I will be building a light/strobe pole for night operations and the flat strap sheave for the 2" strap I've got on order. I'm excited to try the green strobes like we see on DOT trucks in Michigan these days..

OK, I can finally do an update. The flat belt sheave I had my buddy turn out for me does not work. Seem it needs to have taller flange to keep the belt within it. Nonetheless, I see if he'll turn it down for me again. Oh well. Doug is a retired tool builder from Ford.

On the bright side, my light pole bracket worked nice and I'll get two 2 LED lights attached to it shortly. The green strobe rocks!

This is the strap sheave but it does not work, since the strap rolls out of it asap. Seems like the hook needs to be welded on making it a solid attachment. Maybe turn the sheave more making its flanges taller. What do you think?

Curious about the green strobe. Live in west Michigan myself so see them a lot.

But is it legal to actually use one since the county's use them?

A deeper cut sheave might be the answer, Arlyn. You might try using steel or aramid fibre cable and a cable sheave. If the belt doesn't work. Have you seen the belt jump/twist/roll off the sheave. Does it only happen when raising/lowering the blade. That's a simple raise/lower mechanism and should work well.

I really doubt that the "strobe light LEO's" have time to monitor private strobe colors. Unless you were running up/down major roadways and disrupting traffic. I have multiple lights of several differing colors/intensities on my tractor. Folks are simply glad to see me and slow/avoid those few times I'm out & about on the county road.

Rolf! I was going with the flat tow strap because they are easy to change, don't cost much and folks using normal steel winch cable for plowing, break them ASAP. Guys who had switched to a flat strap loved them and said they lasted much longer. :confused3:

Never though of that. Yes, a nylon strap will have a degree of "give". Steel cable, more of less, will not.

Easy for me to speculate here. The inch of snow we got three day ago is all gone. I would imagine your lake effect snow simply continues to pile up.

I suggest making the roller with a concave or V face so the strap would tend to be self-centering.

Great idea, why not use a roller from a boat trailer? These strap setups are commonly used on winch systems on a boat trailer.
