I just bought a 2001 Kubota L3010 GST sight unseen. I will be using it to mow trails on hunting land. I have always thought the GST was a cool transmission. I have a New Holland 21 hp hydro and a 40 hp shuttle. So, how will I like this Kubota? Any idiosyncrasies?

It looks like it was well taken care of. What was it use for before? How many hours? Everything work on it?

"Well taken care of" ???
That is a relative thing.
It appears that it has spent it's entire 18 year life out in the weather.
I assume it was a great buy.

If it runs great and he got a great deal who cares? Sounds like the OP needed something that could be beat up with little investment involved.

It was used at a large greenhouse to pull wagons. It is pre-Tier IV with 3200 hours, and serviced regularly by the dealership. Everything works on it. It will get relatively few hours/year mowing trails. I am not so concerned about how shiny the paint is if it runs well. Our farm tractors spent their entire time outdoors.

I have a 93 L3650 GST. Couple of things to remember.

It will be in neutral momentarily when you shift. No biggie on flatland, a bit disconcerting on hills. Youll get use to it.

Do not powershift the shuttle or youll find it wont go into forward or reverse after awhile. Tractor will have to be split to be repaired. Had some employees do this to mine.

At first I hated mine because I was use to a hydro. Once I got accustomed to it I love it.

No whine. 😛

One last thing the GST works a lot better and faster with Super UDT. Especially in cold weather.

Define Powershift. I am assuming that you mean don't go directly from F to R at high RPMs?

Yes. Thats what I mean. I always let it return to idle if Im running the foot throttle before shifting Forward -Reverse or if the the hand throttle is in use Ill clutch to shift the shuttle so I dont have to throttle down.

I have an L3010 shuttle shift so I don't know about the GST but it is a solid tractor. I would think you will like it. Good rubber for 3200 hrs. Fronts are better than mine at 2000.

UPDATE. So, it finally got delivered (the sales person delivered it for free, but his schedule was booked). I love it. It starts instantly, purrs like a kitten, and has zero leaks. It turns my 5' rotary cutter effortlessly, and the GST works like it is supposed to. It has a broken headlight lens, a broken taillight lens and is missing the rubber cap on the PTO lever. Yes, the paint is faded, but I plan to fix that with some sandpaper and several cans of spray implement paint. This is a working tractor, so I am not looking for show quality.

It is the perfect size for my needs. I have been looking for a long time, and the used market for 25hp-45hp tractors (young or old) is pretty thin. I wanted something in good condition, reasonably priced, within 150 miles. Two out of three was possible, but three out of three evaded me.

It was a gamble to buy sight unseen, but the dealer has a good reputation and didn't seem to inflate their descriptions. This time it worked out.

Update. So far, so good. It pops right off, runs great, and suits my needs perfectly. The GST is really nice for mowing trails. I am getting the lights repaired and working, and doing a rattle can paint job with Valspar implement paint. I have found that to be really tough paint. It was a risk to be sight unseen, but the dealer has a good reputation, and CUT deals are hard to come by.

I had an L3410 for many years and it was a reliable machine. I believe you will like your L3010. Enjoy!

Very nice, had to research it...not well acquainted with the compacts yet, 30 or so HP in a compact is excellent. A great looking tractor, and it should serve you well.
I would have bought used, pre-scratched as I do my trucks (avoid that first scratch agony) if I had found one priced right.

Looks good !! Good luck with it. My 2002 has been very reliable. The only trouble I've had was the glow plug timer. $60 at Mesick's and simple to fix.

I put well over 2000 hours on my old L3010 without any issues whatever. I used it mostly for mowing 7 acres of former pastureland, plowing snow and grading a 1.25 mile private road. I would probably still own it today if I didn't need more HP. I needed to drag material up a steep slope with a rear blade to repair road washouts. The L3010 would do it but only in low gear which took forever.

Nice machine. Kinda the size I'm looking for, but with a tad more HP.

Did a great job on the repaint! Looks sharp for a working tractor.

My 2002 BX2200 is garage kept and the tractor looks in very good condition for it's age and how much use it's had. Starts every single time, no leaks, and it just works.

I hate to get rid of it when I upgrade. It's been such a good machine.
