Diesel Can Cap Fell into Fuel Tank !!!

it's a '74 Kubota L260, no fuel gauge, it has a indicator hose (not visible from the operators seat) on the bottom side of the tank but that's it. I thought about it for a while but couldn't figure out what the wood would be for... it was too small to expect it to be visible when checking the fuel level (since I didn't know it was there for 3 years)

I'm betting somebody was using it as a dipstick to check fuel level & dropped it.
