RX7320 problems @7 hrs on the meter

Still waiting on oil test results. Just got a plow brought home this weekend..It was an adventure to say the least! It was almost twice the weight that I estimated it was going to be. Brought it home with my tacoma and a snowmobile trailer. Every bump I hit the trailer tire would hit the bottom of the trailer deck and a puff of smoke would erupt. 55 mph down the interstate for 400 miles to get 'er home! Was sketchy!

Why buy a weight when there is free gravel to scoop up in the bucket or even spear a bale of hay with the forks! I will need more weight up front though. The front end felt light with just the pallet forks. Might have been a little better with the bucket on there as it is heavier than the forks, but I'm sure a scoop of gravel will be necessary as well.
I did plow just a small strip with it just to put it in the ground and see how it did. The depth gauge tire was flat, so it went quite a bit deeper than it needed to...about 10" or more. When it was that deep the tractor was grunting pretty hard in 1st gear medium range at a fast walk or slow jog pace. I had traction to spare and gears to drop down into if it became necessary, but it seemed that it was going to pull that way all day long if I wanted.

Oil report came in today. Not much help, but it did show there wasn't any coolant in the oil which is good. Im getting close to the 50 hour mark. I will change it then and put 20 more hours on the fresh oil and send it in for another test. Not sure how well the oil report will show up...its only a screenshot.

Yes, the absence of coolant in your oil analysis is great news! So, what brand and viscosity oil have you been using? Seems the first sample maybe didn't give the lab as much volume as they could use to do all the testing they needed, first go round. Were you short on oil to send out? This first sample analysis serves as your baseline for continued oil analysis throughout the life of your tractor's engine. The second sample should give a better picture of what damage, if any resulted from the engine block heater having blown out of your block. Hopefully you will have gotten lucky and the results could continue to show minimal to near non-existent harm. I'm hoping that is what is found, and you will be good to go forward. I would caution to keep a close eye on the block heater too to make sure there are no signs of leaks or outward movement of the bushing/heater assembly. Good luck with this and please give us your next report when it comes in.

I think it will be a good match! Im pretty excited for the ground to thaw so I can get started plowing. It is a 3-16 plow. International Harvester 140 with a spring reset. It just had new wear parts put on it last year. It is a really solid plow. Weighs in around 2500 lbs. I gave $700 for it. Picked it up down near Boise, ID. It was listed on Craigslist for 3k. I had seen it there for a couple months, but I dont like to call someone and offer $700 when they are asking 3k, but knew they had it overpriced compared to others that had come and gone off CL throughout the winter. Turns out the son had typoed the price and they were only asking 1k. They took the $700 offer. There has been a lot of 3 bottom rollover/2-way plows come up for sale in northern/eastern Idaho in the last 6 months and most have been in the 500-700 asking price. This was the first IH I found for sale and from everything I've read this is one of the more sought after plows of this type.

Surprised you don't have more snow on the ground. I still have 1.5 feet. Guessing it'll be here for another month.

Im not really sure what brand of oil the tractor comes from the factory with, but with only 30-some hours on the clock it still has the factory oil in it. It was 15 below zero when I was out there siphoning oil out of the dipstick tube. I guess my fingers went numb before I had enough oil in the container. That was a real disappointment that they were not able to test for fuel in the oil. Surprising too as I sent their little bottle back 3/4 full and figured that would be enough. That does leave the question pretty open about the low viscosity. I wonder if it is purposely a low viscosity for break in purposes. Like a break in oil?
The next project I have coming up is plowing my field which will be working that engine pretty hard. I'm really tempted to get that oil out of there and some fresh in prior to working it really hard. It may not be finished "breaking in" yet though, so I'd hate to put a bunch of metal into fresh oil right off the bat.
