I was convinced until it got to the part with the zip tie.

I admit my vision isn't very good, but i could only see the zip ties on that tag ends of the chains, as in just holding the slack ends, but i could have missed something. Now the rest of the setup wouldn't be the way i'd tie down that tractor.

Agreed, the zip ties have no pressure on them but the chains are hooked wrong.

We use zip ties sometimes to secure extra chain or strap, but I have little tolerance for folks that are that careless about securing a load. Hope it was in jest.

I think the rules are enforced differently in different areas, but it is my understanding that a tractor would need a minimum of 4 independent tie-downs, 2 pulling forward, two pulling back.

depends on the weight. 10000+ needs 4 independent tie downs, under 10000 only two are needed to be legal. i will see if i can find the section in the fmsca book

NICE trailer. Too bad that he's going to lose that JD.

Only if he tries to move the trailer. To me it seems there is zero backwards hold and almost no foward shift hold. That's at base. Each implement is not tied separately.

Total screw up that puts everyone in danger.

The front chain is zip tied to the d ring.

None of the chain or binder hooks are hooked to the trailer they are all just tie wrapped to the trailer.
It has to be a put on!!!!!
I think they had to close the binders before putting the tie wraps on.

Left rear binder is hooked to the D ring, right rear binder is hooked to the trailer frame.

Agreed, they are not hooked properly but they are hooked.

This is the only front hook point. Not that the back hook job is much better. Maybe they remembered to set the parking brake.IMG_1718.JPG

But I am sure you had the parking brake set. :D
Exactly! One strap on each end, use the excess strap to "tie down" the other side of that end... Call it good.
