I don't even reply to those. I sold a snowsled this winter, it wasn't pretty but ran good and had a low price of $300, as it didn't owe me a thjng. I took the ad down after 12 hours because of all of the ignorant replies I was getting, but the guy who did buy it didn't even quiver on the price. He wanted it so that his nephews could ride around the field with it.

But it’s not just stupidity, so many people are incapable of thinking from somebody else’s perspective. That’s something else.

This shows up in ads, where they can’t imagine somebody else’s questions. They can’t imagine why the whole world doesn’t have the same perspective, information they do, and if someone doesn’t they’re an a-hole. This shows up in road rage, politics, internet boards, etc...

I'm pretty discriminating about descriptions.

Price is a very important thing to me; yet even some auto dealers also seem to keep that as a secret number. What I really hate is when I stop and ask a simple question about a vehicle (usually the price) and they recite the entire description that I have already read.

Late 80s I stopped in to a Dodge dealer to look at some on their used lot. Found a couple, went in to ask about price. They gave me some monthly rate. I asked about a full cash price. They refused. I escalated to the Sales Manager. Still refused. Flat out told me I had to use their finance company and that I could not pay cash or use my own financing.

They saw the back of me right quick.

I went Into a used auto dealer looking for a manual shift 3/4 ton 4x4, with an 8' bed, preferably Ford. The salesman told me he had just what I was looking for... and took me out to look at a Sierra 1500 extended cab with a 6 1/2 foot bed and automatic transmission. I just said "don't waste my time", went back to my truck and left.
This was pre CL, and I then answered a private ad for an F250, " good shape with no rust". The price had me wondering but I checked it out; there was duct tape covering the many rust spots all over the cab and about the only things good on the truck were the side mirrors and front bumper. Worst of all though, I had looked at the same truck in a nearby town and a different seller a year earlier, and realized that the best place for it was the scrap yard.

I have never seen such an extreme example, but my BIL used to own a small used car lot.

The cars were really just a means of selling loans. He made his money on loan interest, not vehicle mark up.

That is the going thing in the small dealer used car business right now, it seems. Buy here, pay here.

I was looking for a JD Gator charger, dead or alive. One guy responded, quite annoyed, why any one would want a defective charger.

I was selling a used Onan generator control (circuit board only). $350.00 Had a picture. Someone wanted to know if it came with wheels. I responded, saying they were extra.
