Absolutely. Youtube is invaluable for fixing things. Had to use it the other day when replacing the heater element in the dryer. I have done this before but for some reason I could not get the element out of the dryer. Turned out there was one more screw that I could not see due to its placement and it being covered in a hardened lint.

Wifey used Youtube yesterday to replace a brake light. :thumbsup:

However, the Sears tool catalog was invaluable for figuring out which tool to use for a problem. Or there was even a tool to fix the problem you did not realize you had. :laughing::laughing::laughing: For the last few years I have been reorganizing my tool storage by buying Bosch tool boxes. Part of the problem is how to fit tools into the box and if I could just look through the Sears tool catalog I know I could find what I am looking for. :confused3:

We finally replace our old TV set with a new flat screen. We pick up far more stations on the attic antennae than we did on the old TV. We had bought new fangled rabbit ears to use on the old TV since that antennae work better than the one in the attic. Tried to use the rabbit ears on the TV but it picked up very few stations so I connected the attic antennae and we get loads MORE stations. Guess the new TV has a MUCH better tuner.

Any who, I was looking at the new channels, and saw a Lowes commercial about Craftsman tools. :shocked:

Sears has long ceded territory in plenty of areas like toys and clothing. Its last bastion: appliances and home improvement, both areas that home improvement retailer Lowe痴 is targeting.

Lowe痴 CEO Marvin Ellison told AP he estimates about $2.5 billion to $3 billion up for grabs in appliances; for home improvement, that figure is anywhere from $600 million to a billion dollars. Lowe痴 has been expanding its appliances, and started stocking up on Craftsman tools, which Ellison thinks has attracted Sears shoppers.

I'm not convinced that any brand name bought by any other company is the same in anything but the name. And as many have already noted, the tools haven't been the same quality for many years. Is Lowes selling the new, lesser quality tool, or the older, better items?

While the design can remain pretty constant... tool mold wear, changes to manufacturing processes, material sourcing, plant relocations, etc. all can degrade the quality of products over time. Some companies are very stringent about QA regarding all of these mentioned factors, some companies pay attention to only some of them.
