Got that beat. It is -20 right now up at the cottage (2.5 hrs. North of Toronto near Algonquin Park), with the windchill. But going up to about 38 by Saturday!

-20C is -3F. I am about 20 miles West of A park. About one third of the way between Parry Sound and 'the park'.

Spectrum sent me a letter that I should now have 200 Mbps Internet speed, but needed to change my modem (at no cost) for the faster speed. So I stopped by their office and got the new modem, finally got it installed and working yesterday. I know there are several places on the Internet that claim to tell you what your speed is. The first one I tried showed my speed had increased from 39.94 to 75.61. But this morning, Spectrum's own site showed my speed this morning to be 45.3. That's a bit short of that 200 they claimed.
The numbers you are getting maybe with N wifi. That's what I get on it. When I use 5G wifi I get 110 mbps. My computer hooked direct to router gets 260+ mbps.

Good morning to all! Low was a warm 28 degrees compared to some of you. Going up to 56°, a cold front moving in should drop the temps 20° quickly this evening. Just the edge of the storm that CWB is going to get. They are predicting maybe 3" of snow to be dropped within a few hours, then cold and clear by midnight.....wow...I wasn't expecting such a swing in weather.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL!

Thanks for the well wishes guys. I hope all of you have a great day with family and friends. Stay warm and cozy. Morning prayers sent.

Thanks, Ron. I'll have to admit to being a bit slow; didn't think about that, and I never have either of my computers hooked directly to the router.

Those Toms, doing they 'thang....

Got the bird in the roaster cooker at 6 am. Desserts were made yesterday. Wifey already "snuck" a piece of her fresh made cherry pie....She also made some Ghirardelli brownies (a double batch) that my kids and in-laws have just about wiped out. Dark Chocolate Brownie Mix | Ghirardelli You can get them much cheaper at your local Wally world.

So all we need to make are the sides. Will do the stovetop stuffing in the crockpot. Already put the butter, celery and onion in the crock pot to start cooking them.

It's starting to smell good already.

LS, I pray they can help your knee.

Wanting to try and learn the new Autocad Fusion 360. It is free for hobby use. Neat powerful software.

Spent quite a few summers in that area during my teens. We would spend summer vacations at Sturgeon Bay Provincial park. One summer the Boy Scouts Troop I belonged to did a Canoe trip in Algonquin for 10 days. Did all without a GPS. Just maps and a compass. Great memories.

Bird, don稚 forget about giving a good Instant pot recipe cook book along with the pressure cooker. This is a different way of cooking and some of our older friends couldn稚 figure it out and did not know that there are recipe books just for the Instantpot.

So now you're telling me I need to spend even more money! After much searching and reading on the Internet, trying to determine which Instant Pot I should give them, I bough the Instant Pot Duo Plus 6 qt 9-in-1 model for each of them, although some of the things I read made it appear that the smaller models might have been preferable. So now what's the best cookbook?

Good Morning!!!! 53F @ 7:15AM. Windy with a few showers this morning. A steady, soaking rain developing during the afternoon hours. High 53F. Winds SSE at 20 to 30 mph. Chance of rain 100%. Rainfall near a quarter of an inch. Localized flooding in recent burn areas.

Thanks for the iPhone tip, Ron. Never would have guessed that's how it works. I wonder how people find out about stuff like that?

We've got a little break in the weather this morning; it rained on and off most of yesterday, leaving about 3/4" behind. Only short bursts of heavy rain, so hopefully not too much more damage in the burned areas. The Camp Fire is now 90% contained and has consumed 153,336 acres. Here's a comparison that helps show the size, and especially the speed, of this fire: https://www.usatoday.com/story/news...lU6hzQsfCavQCn8wPIH2_2iind_EYMk9tbpCAwiqND-LM

Evacuation orders continue to lift in areas adjacent to my property, but I'm still waiting. On close examination of the maps, it looks like I'm grouped in with one of the most heavily damaged areas, and that will probably mean a longer delay in returning. But there's been no rhyme or reason given for what zones get lifted when, so hope remains I'll get back soon. ArcGIS Web Application

I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving. This year there's a lot to be thankful for...

Happy Thanksgiving
68°F and .49 inches rain

So much to be thankful for.

20 years ago today wife was in life changing accident. 10 days in ICU, 5 months in hospital - yup lots to be thankful for.

30 plus expected for our potluck gathering. Need to fire up the Primo. Spatchcocked turkey is ready to go.

Got my project basically staked out, so can visualize and see where I have to move dirt.

Thankful for TBN ohana and their safe well being.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great Thanksgiving

Unless you are hooked up directly I have found the speed test decrease 75%.

OK, Don and/or Ron, help this old computer dummy. My router has ample places to plug in an ethernet cable. Nothing on my HP Laptop is labelled as "ethernet" in the paperwork but is the "RJ-45 (network) jack" the same thing; i.e., is that where I'd plug the cable? And if you hook up to the router, do you have to change anything else, or do you have to change something if you later unplug the ethernet cable?

Same thing. RJ45 is the ethernet connector type.

Just hook up a CAT5 cable to network connection. CAT 6 will also work. You may have to turn off the WiFi on computers. Some computers do this automatically.

Happy Thanksgiving. Next year will be the 400th anniversary of the first US Thanksgiving to the Almighty, at Berkeley Hundred on the James River, Virginia.

27 going to 34. Not the best day to sit outside with the turkey fryer. I tried it for the first time last year and everyone said it was the best turkey they've ever had...so they want an encore...hope I'm just as lucky keeping the peanut oil at the right temp. Just glad we don't have Looking4 temps or Roy temps here.

Bird, I just read your spellcheck joke and laughed out loud. Thanks.

Buppies have a safe trip and light traffic.

Son and GF and dogs arrived last night after I went to bed. But I got up to say happy birthday, and to play with his Brittany puppy...sure grew since I dogsat her several weeks ago. Son doesn't like cake, so my wife had a chocolate chip cookie pie for him and one token candle.

We have so much Christmas music available, but I can't think of any Thanksgiving songs...but probably are. PJ...know any?
