I worked on Semi's and Semi Trailers in Ohio (where I grew up) in winter 1978 when we had -30* low with mid day -15*!
Didn't get above 0* for 3 weeks!
In May that year I transferred to Florida and never looked back!
Here I get Cabin Fever after 2 days of rain.

Oldpath you have to remember you are at least a 120 miles southeast of me, the weather here is much different then say Windsor. 34F here this morning, I lost all my garden Saturday morning to frost. 32F tonight.. When I come up from MA in the winter and get off at RT 201 in Fairfield, there is two feet of snow on the ground, when I get home there is 5ft of snow..

Your younger son has no idea what heat is LOL

I always thought AC for cars was for wussies.

Forgot what NC could be like when I was younger and moved back when I was older. No AC and moved back down to NC in June.

When it's over 90 and humidity is over 70, "open air" riding isn't fun at all. with two windows open, it was like driving with a blast furnace going off in your face, no cool air to evaporate your perspiration. Called my parents the next day after I moved down and told them I was coming back up to our local car dealer to find a car with AC because mine didn't have any LOL

I recall about a half dozen days here when the temp went over 90*, most of the days was upper 80s and pushing 70* humidity, from July 3rd and on it was bad. Yes I also like the AC in a car, last of May I dump $600.00 on my Jeep AC, cant stand that hot blowing air and noise, might be an age thing, I like a cool quiet ride...

Funny thing though, the 80' heat that I whine about all summer feels nice when my wood stove is doing it's thing in January.

Me to it's that darn humidity that makes summer so miserable, nothing like a dry 80* heat in the house during winter, and with the wood stove going I go to the fridge to get a snack and I get stuck by lightning from opening the door, have to remember to touch the chimney first, takes a a few zaps before it sinks in.

Now the wait is on for all the leave peepers to come up here so they can get there pictures of the frost bit leaves, I think maple gives off the best color.

The lack of rain is going to affect the foliage this year. At least we have gotten some frost now, so that will change things.

I just started picking cucumbers, zucchini and picked 10 lbs of green beans the past couple days in my fall garden!
Then I will plant the winter garden.

You just have to beat the alligators to the zucchini. :D
We had our first frost last night and will probably see another tonight... it will be a long time before we enjoy the fresh produce which Stimw is just starting to see.

Never heard of a winter garden, you mean 30 inches of frost with frozen grass sticking out of it?
