Buying Advice Suggestions on new purchase.

I am looking at the CK3510SE HST open cab and the CK4010 HST. Since the 4010 is not the SE the two are about $150 difference in price. Just looking for opinions if the 5 extra horse power is worth not having all the added features of the SE? I really like the independent PTO on the SE model. Most of the other features can be added to the non SE but not the PTO and tilt wheel.

I went through the exact same decision a few months ago. I ended up choosing the 3510se.

Other than the 5hp difference and the options on the SE, they're the exact same tractor. Personally, I found the SE options to be worth more to me than the 5hp would have been. If you plan on running any implements that require more pto hp, (wood chipper for example), the 4010 might be a better choice, but otherwise, I feel like the 35 is plenty of power. In the 60ish hours I've put on the tractor so far, I've not yet felt like I didn't have enough power.

That is what i am thinking. Not sure 5hp will ever be noticable for my use. Did you happen to find anything showing all the options included on the SE models? I have seen multiple videos saying it includes 28 additional features but no one ever covers them all.

Look at the 'Equipment' tabs on the specs on the Kioti website. You'll see what's standard on the -SE vs. the 'base' model.

I would think that unless you're doing some serious and frequent work w/ ground-engaging implements, you won't miss the extra HP.

I would choose the 3510SE - or get a quote for the 4010 SE and see that difference before deciding. But I didn't want "bare bones" type tractor either - once I saw the bells & whistles, I wanted [most of] them

When I compared, some of the SE features were great, others were just "nice to have" but not something critical to have. So you could determine what features of the SE upgrade are most important to you and then buy most of those a la carte on the non-SE version. i.e. just upgrading the telescoping 3pt arms & stabilizers to the same ones on the SE isn't very much $ at all. So wouldn't make sense to pay for all the SE options if that was the ONLY one you really cared about. Mirrors, mat, tilt wheel, linked pedal, etc could be options you really want or things you wouldn't want to pay extra to get - only you can say if they have any value for how you will use the machine.

Thanks! I did get a quote on the 4010SE and it put it over my set budget with the added attachments. The biggest thing the SE has that I want is the independent PTO. Unfortunately that is not an add on option to the non SE tractors.

You want the independent PTO feature of the SE model. I'd say get what you think you plan to use most- that feature, not available on the base model, and forgo an attachment or two until you have the coin to pay for them. You can't otherwise get the feature you want most. The whole purpose of having a tractor, IMO, is to be able to perform the tasks you need done. Hard to get them done without the independent PTO, right? :confused3::thumbsup:

I agree. But the 3510 SE is the same price as the 4010 non SE. In doing more research i have not found anyone say they wish the had bought the 5 hp more. Usually the 35hp is good or they went up an entirely bigger series.

They're both 99.9% same machine. Probably find you're running out of traction before HP most times. If you're sticking with 5' implements not sure you'd notice the difference often, if ever. Sometimes you just gotta slow down a touch for the tall grass, full box blade, steep hill, etc....

I have the 4010 SE hst, and find that for the most part, power is adequate. The light weight of the tractor, even with loaded wheels, is more limiting than engine power. Most loader and box blade work is at very light engine load and relatively low engine speed.

The exception is transport on the road. The naturally aspirated engine simply has inadequate torque rise for satisfactory road travel the one mile, with hills in both direction, between my house and shop.

The hills aren’t that steep, but the engine lugs down and road speed drops precipitously as I crest the hills. The NX4510 SE would have been a better choice, as the turbocharger would allow higher torque rise, and road speed wouldn’t drop off as much.
