RTV-XG850 Sidekick

My dealer recently received their first RTV-XG850 Sidekick.

It's the "Special" (black, aluminum wheels, etc.) version.

I have a RTV-X1100C and am not in the market but I had not seen one so I looked it over.

It's an 850 cc twin DOHC 4 cycle water cooled engine producing 48 HP. Brochure says it will make 40 MPH, which is about twice what my 1100C will do (not that I care). It weighs in at about 1,760 Lbs.

I'm a bit surprised that it's carbureted as many (most? all?) of the competition is fuel injected.

It's a nice looking machine.

Anyone have one?

My dealer was supposed to have one in May for me to try and they still haven't received theirs yet.

They are carbureted? I actually prefer that. I have two Polaris Sportsmen. One carb'd and one fuel injected. Yes the fuel injected one is ever so slightly easier on fuel, but I feel much better going into the bush alone with the carb'd one. At least I know I can always make it run.

Motor is made by Subaru, soon to be a Kubota motor because Kubota is buying the rights to build it...

Personally, I'd MUCH rather have it FI over a carb any day!

Fuel injection is one reason we bought a RTV500 over a RTV400, no carb to gum up...

I would love one but not without EFI. Makes a world of difference in the cold weather.

I have the Kubota sales brochure in my hand.

It clearly states carbureted and a photo shows a carburetor.

That's too bad! Kubota will probably change that when THEY get that motor into production...
