on Friday the 13 I was cutting my grass and the mower deck rolled up a rock that the blades would not have normally hit, but the deck hit it and rolled the rock out of the ground the blades tried their best to chop it up but it was the rear window on my truck that caught a piece of the rock. those power sliding windows are pricey.

on Friday the 27th I was hauling gravel in my 5 ton dump trailer and on the third load of the day my helper let the cord get under the tire and pulled the insulation back of course it shorted the wire out burning one completely into.

On Saturday the 28th I loaded up the B26 and box blade to go straighten up a road that has not been touched in 20 plus years and just a little while into it I noticed oil blowing out the vent tube so I cut the tractor off and when I started again it didn't blow out for a while but eventually did several times I got the road done and went home.

On Sunday my wife and I carried the L45 over to our sons home and trimmed the bushes back so we could bush hog and mow without getting slapped in the face. probably about 2 acres of wood line I was using my sickle bar and it worked well until the wife says where is that oil coming from and looking under the tractor I see a stream of oil coming from parts unknown.

I get home and my father-in-law informs me that the switch that engages the blades on my craftsman lawn mower broke and the red knob is laying in the seat.

Sometimes your the bug and sometimes your the windshield, I think I'm the bug.

Bad luck comes in 3's I thought! Maybe insurance will cover window, wiring isn't a huge deal, other things needed attention anyway. That doesn't help though.

Yup that would be plate full indeed.

I got a chance to work on the lawnmower, seams that the mower clutch went out and the father-in-law not understanding or not realizing the switch was already on he pulled harder breaking the switch and throwing me for a loop because I could not figure out why the blades didn't work after I replaced the broken switch and because I used a switch from a junked mower I ended up checking it twice to make sure it was good. I finally backed up and started over and that's when I tested the clutch. :duh:

It's another month, hopefully things will go better.

Things seem to happen in bunches but that is an impressive string of very bad luck. Look at the bright side - next month can't be any worse and will probably be a lot better.

I have come to the point of my life that I simply expect mechanical things to give me problems at some point in time. ...sometimes it's all at once and a pita..other times it's little things that are just a nuisance.
What does not change is that none of them are a really big deal in the big picture. Machines can be fixed or replaced..
But the things in life that neither time or money can fix.. those are harder to deal with.

Dam n Woody I thought I had a bad Friday the 13th, a renter called up and said the bathroom had water on the floor leaking from behind the shower/tub. . . ended up the control valve in the wall of course:confused2:. . .I feel fortunate now. . . sorry for the bum luck.

Heh, I know the feeling. Monday morning I got to work to find that my office had flooded over the weekend due to heavy rains that overwhelmed the roof drainage. Wednesday, somebody backed into the side of my truck and caused $3700 damage that will take 2+ weeks to fix. I am waiting for #3. I did catch a cold virus that is in full force right now, but somehow I don't think that is worthy of #3. I don't plan to go near my boat or tractor until after #3 happens or a few days go by.

okay got down and was looking at the L45 had to remove some stuff and found a loose connection so I tightened it up and good to go. only lost a gallon of oil but that's okay.

what should I be looking for on the B26? it was foam out the vent tube and now the oil does not even touch the dip stick. I thinking sucking air somewhere but I'm not sure never seen this before and not sure where to start. the suction side of the pump maybe?

Woody, if you are getting foamy oil and it is low, yes you probably need to check for the oil pump sucking air. Possibly a cracked pickup tube? Not sure of the exact configuration of the lube system in your engine but have seen that happen in engines before.

thanks for the reply but we are talking hydraulics right.

No sorry I miss understood. I thought you were talking about the engine. However I would still be looking for the pump sucking air - loose/cracked fitting etc.

got a call today my son went down to check on the road I worked on to see how the ditch's handle a recent storm that came through. he said the ditch's looked good but the tracks where someone took a four wheel drive up the road and parked beside his camper are deep. I knew I would have to grade it again but I wish who ever was checking it out would not have. guess it is time for a camera and or a gate.
