Do all pocket doors suck?

/ Do all pocket doors suck? #25
Yes, this door is in my living room and it used a cheap farm store grade track. The hangers are handrail brackets flipped upside down. There are lots of kits available to do this.

That looks great - not only the sliding door, the brick work, millwork... wow. Cord did you design your house (Resident Architect)?

I have three total pocket doors two the work great and one that is off tracks all the time so just left it open; don't care about that one anyways. The two that work are the most used ones and have been functioning since 1963. Not sure if the fact that they got used more is the reason they still function fine.

If you do put them on I would say use them at least once a week to keep them operating well.

I also have a sliding barn door from home depot and we absolutely love that.

Yes, this is my doing. I have this industrial-farm house style that seems to be all the rage due to a certain TV show. That said, the home was built in 1842 so I can't take credit for everything. In this case the door is in the corner of a great room addition that we built about 5 years ago. The brick you see used to be an exterior wall that we punched a hole in to connect the kitchen to the great room. For this project I did the Millwork so thanks for the complement!
