cas·u·al·ty
ˈkaZH(o͞o)əltē/Submit
noun
a person killed or injured in a war or accident.

Casualty doesn't always mean death. It means death OR injury.

North America... it contains 23 countries. I said "The United States". You got info regarding North America.

Without peaking, name the 23 countries in North America. :D

One hint for one of the countries
My BIL, with a father from Mexico, missed a real obvious one. So we looked up and i think i said something like WTHeck?? 23?? Follow by, 'that's in North America?'??

23 really surprised me. I usually just think U.S., Canada and Mexico. But that's not the continent. I guess Central America is split between north and south. Now I have to look it up.

Heck no, I can't name them all. Many of them are islands in the Caribbean.

Proof;nothing concrete just dozens of sightings by reliable out-doors people;including NYS employees.
We had one across the road from my house;I personally didn't see it,several neighbors did;it had a black radio tracking collar on.Around that same time I had an under-cover(plain wrapper) state car with all kinds of antennas parked just off my yard.
Again;if they don't exist in New York state why are they protected? We don't protect elephants or rhino.
NY won't admit because of liability issues.

NYS is not releasing cougars, and they never have. Think about how much money it would cost to have a big cat relocation program? How many trail cameras are up in the state of NY? Hundreds of thousands, if not more. Where are the trail camera pics? Not there. These are not ghost, they leave good prints for us to see, take crap for us to see and kill big things weekly. Most importantly, every state that has cougars ends up with roadkill. Not in NY. Can a cougar pass through, like what happened in 2011? Yes. This was documented and shared with the public.

They were protected in NY because they were federally endangered, so by law they壇 have to be in NY. They were a native species, unlike your elephant or rhino analogy.

Please only post facts, it痴 easy for internet rumors to get out of hand. Thanks!

I hope to live long enough to see wolves ( Come on, Canada. Send a few down. ) or cougars in N.Y. Until recently bears were only in the most remote parts of the state, now they're getting common enough that they barely make the news when visiting suburbia. There are supposed to be more deer in N.Y. than before white men came; I don't know who did the counting back then, but I do know that there seem to be a heck of a lot more deer than 20 or 30 years ago. Hardly anyone hunts anymore; there are no predators other than 4 wheeled ones, and we not so affectionately refer to deer as rats on stilts as they eat a few thousand dollars of profits annually. We could use some large predators.
I can't wait for the hysteria when a serious predator nails a Shi-tzu or cat from a backyard some evening. It's just nature, but I'm a parent and grandparent too who doesn't want to lose a kid to a big, bad, whatever either.

Actually, O’Shea is not shy about letting us know where he stands on almost any subject. This becomes clear in his commentary on wildlife sightings in the Adirondacks, a matter upon which he and most officials of the state Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) do not see eye to eye. Not even close.

Consider his discussions of the cougar and the wolf, into which he launches early on. Regarding the big felines, O’Shea sides against DEC and with those who say cougars inhabit the Adirondacks, noting that three of DEC’s own biologists are among those that have seen them. Turning to wolves, he discusses the debates about what species (and how many) have inhabited the Adirondacks, blasts the DEC again for denying their existence in the wild and offers suggestions for their restoration. He feels confident that “the howl of the wolf will once again become part of the regular sounds of the Great South Woods
