first time I have used this function since I've had the tractor.
It was 17 deg here yesterday. Turned to TS.Then, turned over about 6 times and fired right up. I couldn't believe it:cool2:

Even though I now own a Kubota, I still rely on the Yanmar for a few chores :thumbsup:

Isn't that thermostart neat? This has been a mild winter so far in the high Rockies but thermostart works fine in warm weather too. And it's so simple. The one on our YM165d is the old type that doesn't even connect to the diesel fuel return line. For fuel it just has a one oz. plastic cup with a cap. Apparently it is designed to be manually filled every few years. Everytime I use it I think about adding thermostart to our other diesels. Someone should offer a kit. No reason at all why it wouldn't be an advantage for any other diesel. All it takes is one tapped hole in the intake manifold and one wire to a switch.

Mine was designed to be manually filled also. A few yrs ago, I found a filter with a Y and installed in in the return fuel line. Now, it stays fill

I have the Thermo Start just no cup. In Ga. In the last 10yrs. I rarely ever use the TS.. A handful of times. Never had the cup which I didn't realise until after I bought it and even had to wire it to the Ign. switch. Was really surprised to find everything was in working order with just no way to get fuel to it. But when I do need to use it I just setup a quick and easy way to get fuel to it. And when I'm finished with it I can easily remove it. Just another simple and easy way Yanmar gets heat to the cylinders. I used 2 manufactures of tractors on my lot clearing it and the yanmar was far superior. The Kub B-2800 was a problem from the day it was dropped off. The biggest PITA was when you would turn the steering wheel with PS., Hyd. fluid would squirt out at the Steering column and right in you Lap. Yup!! and it just was at the Dealer for Serv.. When we talked with them they told us it required a split!!!!
Buying it was definite a no go but I was able to come up with a Getto rig. that easily took care of the problem so I was able to use the BH. and take care of a few things. I believe the owner was happy about it and as far as I know left it rigged.. The JD that I've used and kept up with hasn't had the first problem besides Maint. in over 10yrs.:thumbsup:. I actually have a old photo I posted on here yrs. ago of what I did to use the TS.. And it still works great....
And
frugalangler basicly it uses a elemnt to ignite a small amount of fuel to ignite it creating heat for a cold start.

I'm guilty of a paragraph and could have been two or three even. but I at least tried to keep it separate for frugalangler and simple. And only misspelled one word. Imagine that!!!
