Well this cold Polar Vortex ( -30) did my battery in lol. Went to NAPA and bought a Legend 800 Cold Crank battery for 159.99 ( CAD) with 6 year warranty. They said the first 4 years if any problems bring it back for refund or replacement at no charge. Now it has a lot of crank and I feel safer now that it will start in the cold.

I don't have the guts to go out in this single digit weather with a negative 6 degree wind chill and even crank up the Kioti.

Me either.
Bitter cold here and supposed to be that way for the next week straight.
Sold out of firewood too. 7 or 8 cord in 3 days when this cold spell hit.
Want to get back to cutting bit not when temps are below zero at night and single digit highs.

When the weather finally breaks and it gets back in the 20's it's gonna feel like spring

I don't like it either k0ua. If I do, I always plug the Kioti at least 1 hour before starting it. We will be getting some snow in the next couple of days if the accumulation is more than 5 inches then I will go out and blow some if not then I wait for more snow. I should of replaced the battery this Summer when it died on me oh well live and learn.

Yep, it will. I changed the engine oil this fall to the full synthetic Shell, and changed the hydraulic fluid to Kubota SUDT2 so it should help a bit, but still I just don't want to face it.

Happy new year all. I have a CK30HST that I bought new in 2006.Believe it or not the battery that came with the tractor lasted 11 years. I thought not to push it any longer so I also bought a NAPA Gold battery. My old battery I gave to my friend that has a Ford 3000 and it is still working in his tractor. I have had a lot of equipment over the years and never had a battery last that long. There was not a name on the battery that I could see. The tractor is at my cabin in Sullivan county PA and I might not get up there to start it for two or three weeks. I have a engine heater and a trickle charger but I shut the power down in the barn, always afraid of mice chewing on the electrical wires.

I’ve got 10 rick for delivery this week. I sold at least that much maybe more last week. If I waived the dollar a mile delivery charge I could sell double that much but can’t supply that much wood. It’s amazing what cold weather does for firewood sales.

I'm not the cheapest around (as advertised). But thinking of raising prices next year.

Haven't directly asked, but have had customers comment on some of the "cheaper" sellers out there. And it's low quality, junk wood, green unseasoned, or not a full cord. Lots advertising a thrown on pickup load as a cord. Not even close. My 7x12 trailer tossed in with a little mounding....that's a cord.

K Man,
What likely caused your battery to weaken is how you described using your tractor in the first post. By moving the tractor and parking it for another extended length of time, the tractor isn't running long enough to fully charge the battery. Leaving a partially charged battery sit for some time is hard on them. At least this is what I learned was killing my batteries, slowly but surely. I used to move tractors around and then park them for winter. Once I started topping off my batteries by running longer or by adding my BatteryMinder, mine last much longer.
