Except we now know that use of prescribed pain medication can morph (no pun intended) into abuse and addiction. Many heroin users got their start on Oxycodone. The manufacturer now admits that they under reported results of addiction studies. It's a serious problem, and one that is being felt in the medico-legal context.

Only by the Grace of God, I suppose, have I not experienced debilitating pain and had to depend upon an addictive pain medication to cope. In 66 years, I've probably taken no more than 10 prescribed pain pills. Ice, heat, balms and ibuprofen have provided just enough relief for me to get by. I was never willing to take a chance on addiction.

You and me both. I avoid prescription medications and drugs of all types. Even after knee surgery, I opted for over the counter ibuprofen over the prescription hydrocodone. I took one hydro and said nope. Impairment is not for me. I would rather take the edge off the pain and gut it out.

I do enjoy the occasional beer, mostly after a long day in the sun in the Texas heat, but never more than two in a day, or the occasional glass of wine with dinner in the winter.

My personal rule has always been... "If I think I NEED a drink... I will NEVER drink one." I only drink occasionally, and then usually limit of 2. I don't like the 'drunk' feeling, but know enough that I don't like the 'day after' feeling even more.

Its kept me in good stead for 40yrs. I wasn't at risk below the age of 10. heh

"In 2014, the VA said it issued 1.7 million prescriptions for opioids to 443,000 vets to be taken at home."

"More than 50 percent of all veterans enrolled and receiving care at VHA (Veterans Health Administration) are affected by chronic pain, which is a much higher rate than in the general population, said a 2014 VA report. Veterans who suffer from chronic pain also experience much higher rates of other co-morbidities (post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, traumatic brain injury,) and socioeconomic dynamics (disability, joblessness) that may contribute to the challenges of pain management when treated by opioids."

Hahahaha. I tried an Alaskan Amber the other day because I hadn't had a beer in several years and I about gagged. Gonna save the beer for beer batter for halibut.

I enjoy a shot of Bailey's or Carolan's in my after-dinner coffee and that's it.

To many ibuprofen aren't good for you so I try to take as few as possible. I would like to try CBD oil for aches and pains, one of these days.

I have read about CBD oil before, and has been raised in this thread. I would be interested to try it, and my wive, who has RA, could probably benefit, too.

My Father was a RA guinea pig for over 20 years. They even tried gold shots for his joints. What a farce. His pain was immense and I only wish they could have taken his pain away. I'll bet that the CBD Oil could have helped had it been available.

My wife just started Xeljanz. It's the best she's felt in YEARS. And she's tried about everything.

According to some of self righteous folks in this thread you are obviously any addict and an alcoholic.

To me it sounds like you're living the good life.

My goodness!!!

Not only are you abnormal. You are completely disregarding the all-knowing FDA approved, lawyerly ascribed dosing for Aleve!!!

I'm surprised several 'well meaning' SWAT teams have not descended upon your abode and crushed your face into the shag carpet. Disregarding pain medication dogma is tantamount to murder according to our all powerful .gov.

Goring my own ox here, but I am all in favor of reducing the risks of motor vehicle accidents through technology. We will never eliminate 100% of the accidents. But if we cut the rate in half, the ripple effects in the economy will be wide spread, from reduced pressure on emergency medical services (ER), to freeing up first responders (Police and EMS) to tend to other calls. It would also help unclog a court system that is over run with motor vehicle accident cases.

Surely, liability insurance rates would have to decrease as the odds of human error MVAs decline.

The tech is getting decent quickly. Proximity sensors, cameras and such help. Even a GPS app like WAZE can help a bunch because it gets info from other users. Accidents ahead, road hazards, drops in highway speeds, I can see how this kind of tech could be made way better. What makes me nervous is once things are mandated they bring all kinds of annoyances. Government often goes too far.

I don't do booze or dope....In my mind, they both just make your stupider.

That said, it's your body, do what you like with it, the consequences are yours, not mine.

That's fine until... you end up in the hospital with lung cancer or a liver / kidney going south, and you want me to pick up the bill. You want to drink, smoke, take drugs, go ahead... But pay your own way.

I use the Flow Joint gel........it works immediately.......great stuff. It does have some THC.....very little.

The FLOW CBD Deep Tissue and Joint Gel is a powerful topical formula designed to penetrate the skin extremely fast.* Research indicates that our formula may deliver cannabidiol into an effected area within 5 minutes, as opposed to 40 min as seen with conventional oil or water-based topicals.* An effective blend of botanical extracts and cannabis in a fast penetrating gel base make FLOW hands-down the best cannabis topical on store shelves.*Note: This product has not been approved by the FDA to treat, cure or prevent any disease.
Each jar contains:
146mg CBD, 4mg THC
