Nearly every town has a hydraulics and/or bearings specialty shop. If its a common O-ring they are likely to have it. Or NAPA.

Found one at Ace. Hard to tell what size it's supposed to be due to stretching but this seemed to fit well!

I have a question, the filter screen (mine is in good shape) in general just seems fragile. What is to stop it from completely taking out the hydraulic system or transmission if it were to come apart??

There's not. Mine was in bad shape. Bent up and may have actually been rescreened?. I was going to Fred. after a tiller so a new Hyd. screen was added to the list of things to get.

Mines in great shape honestly almost looks new. I was just curious if this is something that's ever happened.

There is an Ace right up the road. I'll take the screen and see if I can find something that fits well. If not I'll just have to order one I guess.

Or you can go to harbor freight and buy a metric O ring kit. They don't have everything so a good store even like a Grainger if they have one in a big town near you has one would be best. But like I said there Japanese spec O rings and not SAE or Metric, but often times one of the two can be stretched to work in a certain application and in one like this I think you could get one to work?

well unless it like exploded and the small pieces or metal or flakes went into the pump probably would not notice. What would happen is if it is covered with a layer of crud the pressure would pull it inward and possible rupture and then it could be sucking unfiltered fluid in, not most likely do anything if not a long time but if the strainer was that bad that it caused that to happen that layer of crud all around the spit would then be sucked into your pump and the concentration of it may harm the pump or that crud may get stuck in the passages or valves in the 3pt system.

I found one that stretched over it and seems to be a good fit at Ace!

Yeah understood - was just curious I guess.

On a new note - I have noticed in some videos of Yanmars running that the crankcase vent tube seems to have a little smoke coming out of it. I do not believe mine does. Is it supposed to always vent something, or OK if I do not see anything coming out? How can I check to make sure my vent tube is not plugged/clogged?

I also pulled my exhaust manifold off and it was pretty "dirty" like oil or sooty water. Kinda what you would expect in a diesel manifold I guess?

GOOD FIND - I just got a working 6' bush hog for free. I eventually will get a nice one and want a 4'. For now, can I just cut one foot off of each blade and use it as a four footer so I do not stress the tractor?
