Today the wife was out shopping all day so I had all day to play with the tractor, and it did need some attention desperately.
Had a oil/filter change lined up, top off they hydraulic fluid, air filter change, fuel filter change.
It occurred to me I forgot about checking the coolant. Glad I did. It looked like mud! I removed the plug from the bottom of the radiator and ran water into it until it flowed clear while the tractor ran. Added anti-freeze and topped it off with water. Topped off the hydraulic fluid. It was wayyy low.
Changed the engine oil and filter. Replaced the air filter, last I replaced the fuel filter. Started the tractor up and let it run for a couple minutes. It ran fine then suddenly died.
Then it wouldn't restart. I realized I got air in the fuel system. I don't have any books on this tractor so I don't know where any bleed valves are. I didn't see anything on the top of the filter housing, maybe I just missed them. I'm sure there is a bleed valve or on the injection pump, but I don't know what to look for.

Any help would be appreciated.

Tractor is a Allis Chalmers 5020. Toyasha 2 cyl diesel.

Find the injection pump fuel inlet bolt.. loosen it & unless you have an electric lift pump on it, you'll have to spin the engine until you get fuel & no air to the pump inlet..
Next, loosen the lines AT THE INJECTORS & spin the engine until fuel squirts out there & tighten.. & off you go..
Hold the throttle 1/2 to full throttle while doing all of this.. Good luck..

I got it going without too much trouble.
Did some more checking and found the bleed port on the injector pump. I cracked that opened and cracked both injector lines open. After cranking a little I started seeing shots of fuel coming from the injector lines. I tightened them, the engine started to run, but rough. I slowly closed off the bleeder port and it started running nice. Ran the tractor for about half hour doing some clearing work, then the sheer bolt on the PTO gave up. Oh well. It runs great now though.

How many hours on your 5020? Our church purchased one new from my dad back when he sold Allis. We've now got around 2800 hours on it. Had to replace a water pump couple years ago and the front tires. Been a very reliable machine. Only used to mow with.
