I have a ford 4000
3 cylinder / diesel / 8 speed manual transmission. I believe the year is between 1965-1968. And we have been having hydraulic issues for a while and and just got around to taking the top cover off to clean and change the hydraulic filters. And lo and behold on the inside there was a layer of sludge in the bottom of the tank.
I pulled the intake/suction filter out and saw that it was torn and caved in. I went to two new Holland dealers to find a replacement but I had no luck. Apparently it is really hard to find. They recommended to call salvage yards across the country and try to hunt one down. Does anyone think it could repair it?
If I could get any help with the matter I would be very grateful.

Attached are some photos.

There were several different options for those tractors depending on model and PTO type. The book listed a couple that might be the one you had, but when searching for replacements or used, they show either a flange mount or no oring on the tube.

I personally would repair it. Disassemble. Determine what mesh size your screen is. Your choice, steel or stainless steel. Form and contour the new screen. Reattach as you see fit. Looks to be welded/brazed to me. I always like to use the original parts remanufacture when I can to ensure a good fit.
