are you telling me one of those nasty big old pigs is going to be getting lost South of the Swamp and down my driveway? I have a 5 shot 22LR and a 16 gauge automatic shotgun that, ahem, I've never pulled the trigger on. Was my late wife's. I have birdshot shells for it, that might just really annoy something, like a bear...400 pound hog, about the size of the black bear I hit with my truck.
Hmmm. That's a big pig...perhaps I should up my game a little on the shells...and then have my neighbor show me how to shoot the thing without taking my foot off.

I've seen some of the youtube videos where they hunt pigs in Texas on helicopters with what appears to be fully automatic weapons. I think the farmers and ranchers must
see these pigs as giant rats that need to be exterminated. My understanding is that they can be very destructive. And if a very ticked off alpha boar comes down my lane looking
for trouble, say eating my amaryllis, which for sure would be a terminal offense, perhaps my can of pepper spray or 22 are not the answer. I think a five shell autoloader Browning, so I think I just cock and pull. There is probably a how to video on this, seems to be one on just about everything any more.

Drew, most of them are 150-250, but dem biguns done showed up now an den! For true! I wouldn't shoot one with bird shot unless it was life and death, then you better wait until he has your pants leg!

Somewhere around here there are Marlin levers in both 38/357 and 44/44Mag.
...
Showing my age, but IMR 2400 was a favorite back when I was shooting enough for it to matter.

Ideally, I'd love to have a Marlin 1894C in .357, to make a nice companion for my 6" 686-1 (... or maybe a New Vaquero, since I'm dreaming). Unfortunately, those Marlins seem to all be made of unobtainium these days. I'd settle for a Rossi '92 at this point.

I've pretty much settled into HP-38 for all of my handgun loads. It's a great all-around powder. It's kind of at the low end of .357 magnum power, but I don't shoot hot loads much anyway. Not sure how it would hold up in a 20" barrel, but I'd sure like to do some extensive testing. :dance1:

Here in America a government agency almost never gives up a financial source once on the books. Kekoa is first dog I've had here to get license as technically they don't run free and are exempt. I am enrolling Kekoa and myself in the AKC puppy training course next week which requires the county license and vet shot record. License was $2.10 as the girl charged me the neutered rate ( he will be when old enough).

Nice pic :)

Poor guy. We had one male we raised from a puppy, we kept him whole. Never any problems with him. We did breed him once, and we now have his daughter. We insisted that the owner of the female have homes lined up, before the deed.

Btw, you still have a kmart? we lost ours a couple years ago.

Take care.

Don, I heard something the other day about poison for hogs might possibly be allowed? It contained warfarin, so rightfully, many are concerned about how to get it specifically to the hogs. If my neighbor did nothing towards their detriment, and I had crop or wildlife damage, I would probably do something about it.

These things get huge. I remember a story of a deer hunter getting treed by a huge boar. Not a russian boar (different animal), but a feral hog boar. He had a pump action Remington 30-06 and he said it took 6 shots before he felt comfortable to come down. This was down between Laredo and Hebronville years ago.

Good evening all. 50F this morning, clear with light breeze. Other than a bit breezy for much of the day, it was a very nice day, temp maxed out at 74F, few if any clouds in the sky, wind gust got up to about 20. Replaced rear tire on new bike, aired up all the bikes and golf cart, patched mailbox, test rode the 10-speed, have minor tweaking left, and cleaned the dryer exhaust port on roof, bug screen completely caked.

Kekoa, being an all white boxer is not allowed full AKC registration and they would be quite annoyed if we tried to breed him as registered. AKC standard is less than 30% white. But we got him to be a spoiled pet, as was our very first boxer, also a white male in '92. Over the years, we have bred 3 AKC boxer litters (19 pups), owning both parents. Finding suitable homes may have been the most challenging part. A lot of people didn't get picked.

We still have KMart on Konaside and a Sears on our side, but for how long is a good question. Can't say I'm a great, steady supporter of each, but I have bought at each over the years, especially Sears.

30 right now...high in the mid-30's with some snow coming in. The snow will get heavier tonight....oh boy! It's Spring Time!

I did get 10 gallons of diesel yesterday, so I reckon I'm as ready as I'm going to be.

Health screening at work a few weeks ago had my BP at 180 over 120 something...follow up (a few minutes later) it was about 150 over 94. Went to the doctor's yesterday and it was 130 over 60 something. Well, got the prescription for BP meds anyway.

Good morning. I think the forecasters must have been playing a slightly premature April fools day trick yesterday when they told us to expect the warmest day of the year so far. Fire has been lit again this morning. Can't really complain though, no snow here.

This little piggy went to market,
This little piggy stayed home,
This little piggy had roast beef
This little piggy had none,
And this little piggy cried wee wee we all the way home

[Last piggy really shouldn't have read TBN's good morning. Piggy now paranoid]

47 only moving up to 50 'cause of the rain. 1 to 2 inches forecast...we need some.

Myla's parents are coming to visit today for the weekend. We'll do some talking and watch the Tar Heels Saturday night.

First pear tree blooms opened yesterday, and found a shadbush blooming in the woods. Buppies, no more freezing weather allowed! Although we usually get frost as late as mid April.
