Hey Don, a verse from War Pigs by Black Sabbath, just for Whipper.

[QUOTENow in darkness world stops turning,
Ashes where the bodies burning
No more War Pigs have the power,
Hand of God has struck the hour
Day of judgement, God is calling
On their knees the war pigs crawling,
Begging mercies for their sins
Satan, laughing, spreads his wings
Oh Lord yeah]
[/QUOTE]

Whipper will enjoy that song!

Yeah, I've considered that. While I've seen guys drop them with a .22WMR, I never thought that was a good idea. .30-'06 is always a good all-around game cartridge. I've also been lusting after a lever gun in .357mag. Pretty sure a 158gr LSWC out of a 20" bbl will punch through anything a pig can offer. That might be more fun anyway.

Somewhere around here there are Marlin levers in both 38/357 and 44/44Mag. Given that choice I'd pick the 44 and use one of the new controlled expansion jacketed bullets, probably from Hornady. If'n I wanted to go all old timey, I'd use your semi-wadcutter, preferably a Kieth design, but make sure it had room on the base for a gas check. Showing my age, but IMR 2400 was a favorite back when I was shooting enough for it to matter.

Somewhere out there there is a DPMS GII Recon with my name on it. I'll find it hopefully some day.
