A few years ago, we fell victim to the Costco stainless steel giant that had it all. Side burner, searing burner, back burner, rotating thingy, drawers and so on... I went to clean it up the second spring and the 4 bbq burners were rotted out along with the shields above them. No worries, we had lifetime burner warranty, but found out it was $70 for shipping and handling. We finally got the new burners and shields and they lasted several years, but when they needed replacing again, we bought a Traeger (had small gas BBQs for camping also when needed). SIL made a comment that he wished they had a nice big BBQ like that Costco one. We loaded it up and delivered it to them... I told my daughter that with Amazon and the interweb, she should be able to find burners cheap. She did, 4 for $15 dollars. Ordered them and now they have a wonderful BBQ. My advice, depending on how big of unit you need, take a good look at Weber units (one of our camping units) and if you are looking for big, consider one with brass burners. I am told they don't rust out.
Well if you keep a cover on the grill and indoors during the winter when not used I'm sure it will last a lot longer.
We have a Holland Cooker as well. It's lasted for some time but rarely gets used. Not that is bad it's just a s-l-o-w cooker and we rarely (pun intended thank you very much!) have the time.
I'm assuming the Holland folks are excellent cooks and have the patience to make excellent BBQ.
you can truly slow cook ribs or brisket on one, mainly because low is actually low.
....rib's -- brisket.....mmmmm:thumbsup:
I'm waiting for the temps to warm up enough to fire up my smoker. I need to build an insulated smoker for the winter.
I'll throw in for the Weber grills. I bought a Spirit a couple of years ago, and it's great.
The Spirit is a simple grill, but it works, and has been very reliable so far. Now that I'm looking at the Genesis line, I might upgrade to that when this one fails me, but I expect it'll be a while.
