Great example where a dual lid comes in handy. Picking up multiple short items that a single lid would have a hard time locking all in place. I had a similar situation the other day with my single lid. Doesn't happen often, but once in a while. If I was primarily going to move cut fire wood, a dual lid would be my choice. IMO.

Agree. Construction debris is another example.

My tractor finally showed up and the grapple was the first thing attached! Before getting the grapple dirty I snapped a few shots....and snapped a few first loads. I am very impressed. I may have wanted some additional hose length. At full roll forward the hoses do utilize the spring loaded hose guide. It may be fine, but makes me nervous. I did lessen the guide and get a few more inches.
Net net...I would buy again from EA.

Keep in mind, the spring is there to flex backwards. If it didn't, it wouldn't be doing it's job.

It flexes backwards just as it's designed. Flawless. The first time you see it (as a newbie) it makes you pucker!
Yes, black walnut stumps are wicked. They are a fight to get out!

That video was fun to watch. I have a Wicked Grapple sitting out by the wood shed, tarped with a few inches of snow on it. Light snow a few more days, then rain/snow. Maybe end of the week we see the sun.

Thanks. We only got a couple of snows this year under an inch. So I did not get to play in the snow any. If you snow was deep enough you can move your snow piles with the grapple after they freeze.

I've never regretted having a dual lid grapple.

It works good. The pile needs to be big enough so that I can push into it to get a full load. The pile I was moving from will be 3 times the size once we get all those logs processed.

My new EA 50" grapple is at the freight terminal I'll pick it up tomorrow. A question about connecting it to my front hydraulics for the first time. Presently the front hoses are capped, in removing the caps and installing the quick couplers I'm sure a bit of hydraulic fluid will come out and maybe air in. Any tips? Also does the grapple come dry or filled with fluid? If dry about how much hydraulic fluid will I need to add? TIA

Just connect it and use it. Don't worry. Air will not affect anything. Check your hydraulic fluid level if you like after using the grapple for ten minutes but I don't recall anyone saying that they had a noticeable drop in fluid.

I had no issues when I hooked up the hydraulics; however EA is very gererous with their grease fittings. Some are hidden in plain site. Take a couple of minutes and top them off. Not sure if they are shipped dry or greased.

As said don't worry about air getting into the system.. That will be eliminated in short order by operation of the grapple. Grease is another matter. Mine was not greased. It took a lot a grease. After a while you can check the fluid level on the tractor, but It won't be down too much.
