30 zooming up to 72.

Washed the barn yesterday, so ready to strike out on the painting maneuvers once warm enough. Son and future DIL and Charlotte the boxer are coming today, so won't get too much done.

Started cutting down a dead 16 inch diameter standing white oak yesterday and my chainsaw swept into it like I was cutting butter. Turns out only the outer half inch to 3/4 inch of tree trunk was there, the rest was hollow/black mulch material. No sign on the exterior of any hollow. The hollow cavity was only the bottom 20 inches of tree. Hadn't experienced a trunk that thin before.

48°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 72° today. Looks like they're predicting low- to mid-70s every day through next Thursday.

Going to attend a harp concert tonight in Columbia, IL. A couple of young ladies known as "The Harp Twins" (yes, they are identical twins) are playing full-size concert harps as well as their signature electric harps. Should be fun.

6 degrees right now...heading up to mid-40's today. Maybe a store run today, if the wife wants to. After it warms a bit, I'm going to chop some rather persistent ice on the walks and deck.

Thanks, I'm still super weak but feeling better. The glucose level is going to be a project, the combo of high dose steroids to keep me breathing and the flu virus has everything from my pancreas to my pooper screwed up!

Today couple wheel barrow loads wood inside,dump run,gas up pickup etc.,Mrs. and I heading down to Manchester,NH to Farm & AG. show...might have to wear t-shirt while down there going to be in the 50's.

Bathroom going very slow tile man has made several mistakes and contractor has made him fix them. Shower walls are done halfway up walls long wall to go there. All shower heads and wands in toilet as well. Bath counter top may be installed by end of next week. A one month project will turn into two but that's ok end result will be worth it

18 and the powers that be say we will hit 43 today. Gotta go to the dump, then back and see if I can scrape some hard packed snow and ice off the driveway. Stuck a bigger pin into the swivel joint on the BB. We will see if that helps with the jiggling around.

About 35 out this AM. Sun's up, horses moving about. Looks like one is in the front pasture heading out for an endurance ride. Either someone is stealing it, or one of the kids came home during the wee hours of the AM and is heading out.

I got the barn cleaned up where the hoop was, but never did get to the paint. I am slacking.

It looks to be so nice today, think me and the SO will head to town for an ice cream date.

For the record, I did get my flu shot, have since the 70's, this year it's 48% effective, which is actually very good. Half the people getting it and exposed to the virus would not catch it. Every person not getting the flu translates to 5 others he would have infected, not getting the flu. Statistically, if half the population had gotten the shot this year, there would have been a few thousand random cases and no epidemic at all. Some years it's 35% effective some years, 60%.

Good morning, it looks like this will be a good day to cut back some overgrown hedge plants today, particularly as after February no more cutting is permitted until September. Not looking forward to tackling the blackthorn. If I had my time over again there are not many things I would change, however leaving out blackthorn from the planting scheme would be one of them. It may be a traditional hedgerow plant, but even if you want something spiky, barbed wire is far more friendly.
