Lot of exercise today, worked with a helper on bleaching and then powerwashing the white horse fencing, bleach definitely makes it go faster.
Lot of lugging and dragging hose lines long distances. My helper is a fireman and I was one so not like dragging hose lines was out of the ordinary, we both chuckled about it.
Then I dug all the holes in the new nut orchard, dug two holes in the fruit orchard for two sweet cherry trees on the way, and then dug another dozen holes along the perimeter for other evergreens coming in.
Mr Willis of Willis Orchard Company called himself this time...apologized for their complete screwup and said they were starting all over with my shipment and were sending it out today. Good. Despite my having to go to the end of the lane tomorrow to ship out the wrong pallet, and back out maybe Thursday or Friday to get the incoming trees. Tomorrow might get a bit interesting here...my
Woodmaxx 8800
chipper is due in by tractor trailer, and with just my luck, both these guys will show up at the same time on this country road outside my lane. And it is supposed to rain here tomorrow on top of it. Glad the tractor has a cab...sitting out at the end of the lane waiting for the semi to show up. They sure can't miss my orange tractor.
I have always found professional truck drivers to be both nice and competent. Maybe not 100% out on the road...but the delivery part always goes very smoothly. I always give them twenty bucks for lunch plus and they are always appreciative. They must know I'm from the North, no one else tips here. At a restaurant yes, but nothing else. If someone goes out of their way to make my life easier, I try to say thank you. If they don't, my hand stays in my pocket. Lots of different opinions on this, no right or wrong.
I'm excited about getting my three point
chipper. Hydrostatic infeed, it just sucks it in, hopefully without me attached...
My burn pile is almost full of ash, need a different method of getting rid of pine junk, and I haven't even started the long trail back to the pond.
I have to build a bridge over the six foot deep culvert first, but ultimately I want this
chipper to help clear that path and not leave all the cut limbs
in the woods. Want the path to the pond to be attractive and we will wind around existing nice trees. Maybe next Spring.
