I just installed the Orbi Wifi Mesh system made by nether. It is incredible. Check it out. Never could get wifi out to my garage and now I have it everywhere. I wold highly recommend anyone to investigate it.

$207.95 - not bad. I got two boosters for about $90 and got good wi-if coverage in the shop building and parts of my house where it was very spotty before.

After trying extenders and antenna looking set ups that just didn't work, my wife went to the Verizon store and they sold her a Verizon Jet Pak for less than $100 and it works fine.I'm about as low tech a redneck as you will find and I have no trouble with it.Pretty much plug and play.

Listen to this guy, he know of what he speaks. Or you could listen to me as a former applications engineer for a telephone/data company for over 13 years and a telephone technician for over 21 years before that... either way you are going to get the same message. I engineered hundreds of wired and wireless solutions for business.

Both of these guys know what of they speak. As a network architect for way too long, and a former telco employee, you'd need a VERY special application to justify running a CAT5/6 cable or fiber to a barn today. Use PTP wireless (I like Ubiquti) and be done with it, more than enough speed for anything you're likely to do, reliable as ****, and you'll spend more on the cable to make the run (even if the labor is free AND you have all the right active hardware to terminate at both sides already). If you're **** bent on cable, I'd run single mode fiber, might as well overkill it all the **** way. But, this would be like a guy with a 1/4 acre lot asking for help selecting a 100HP tractor with a 15' batwing setup.

I resemble that comment, I had a 1/4 acre lot and bought a 50HP Kubota
And before the Mobley I was ready to run single mode fiber!! Even though I'm only paying for 5Mbps over my landline ethernet.

But if your still reading can anyone share more experiences about running 900Mhz systems?

Single mode fiber with predetermined lengths and passive optical splitters is the bomb for ruggedness, speed and security. Coop cam, greenhouse cams (helpful for spotting those rwaskelly rabbits, shop cams, front gate hd cam with 2-way communication are very useful.

Multimedia throughout the house and over to the shop...

i had a underground in pipe cat5 wire that finally failed....been 10 years. i was going to pull a new one, but instead i descided to add a wireless extender to my shop so i could have wifi in the shop for
1. wifi calling (lose signal in metal barn
2. wifi to shop computer
3. wifi for ipad and phone use


i ended up getting Extend ANY WiFi System to Shop, garage, barn - Connect kit | RadioLabs

only took 15 minutes to install (not counting my making a bracket to mount it). Im very impressed. have strong 5 bars now on every device. I can finally stay deep in the shop and make and recieve cell phone calls....i have never been able to do this. My house wifi router is located on furthest side away from shop, and the shop is 400 feet from house.

My garage with the wood shop on the top floor is 50' away from my house. I just bought a wifi extender and set it in the bedroom window closest to the shop. I now get internet in the shop and can use my laptop or plug it into my 55" TV and watch Netflix or AT&T now TV. Life is good !!!!!

You got to watch YouTube to figure out how to fix your tractor. I also have service manuals on google drive. I was on call last year before I retired and needed wifi calling, no cell service in my barn. I installed a loco Nanostation to pick up signal from my house about 500 feet away.

I know this is a question for another site but alot of people on this site have pole barn shops I have no windows outside my shop door I get internet but not inside !!!! how are others handleing this problem I'm 300 feet from house thanks

My Barn is only 50 feet away from the House, corner of house to corner of barn, and it is metal... I have no problems so far with the House WiFi reaching in the barn. To qualify my statement, the WiFi Router is in the corner of the house crossest to the Barn.
I mostly use a iPad in the barn, but it received the WiFi signal full strength even wrapped in a full metal jacket of the metal barn, that is why I am wondering about the above questions.

50 feet is a lot closer than 300-400 feet. My shop is metal wrapped. Wifi from house.... a new router with 6 antenna ... would not reach inside at all.

I didn't see your distance from the house in the first post.

Yes it is but mine is all metal and your is wood, I'm thinking the wood should allow a good signal but 300 feet can be a problem.

Have you tried the ExternalAntenna approach ?

I use one of these to link my shop to the house. super easy to install and have no problems with it at all. Weather doesn't seem to change it at all either.
