"Mr. Funnel" vs the Racor Fuel Funnel "RFF"--What's the Difference(s)?

Hi all,

I really have three questions:

First:
Somewhere (most likely in our Kubota forums) I saw reference to a fuel funnel that contained it's own fuel filter that would allegedly filter out WATER and other contaminates, down to "the micron-level" (but I can't remember what "micron-level" was claimed, by the manufacturer, nor the product name). :confused2:

So...can anyone point me to that thread, and/or, to the product itself?

It could have been the "Mr. Funnel," as seen here:

I can see that the Parker/Racor funnels have a point on one side, presumably to pour our the excess, left over from a typical refueling, and that seems like a helpful addition, but as I read about each ("Mr. Funnel" vs Parker/Racor) they seem to be making the same claims.

Can anyone tell me what other, significant differences exist between the two products?


Third:
I cannot find, anywhere, specifications about what level the "Mr. Funnel" products filter down to, at the micron level.

I'm probably just missing it (though I've done Google searches, with "Mr. Funnel" and "micron", to no avail), but Racor claims they filter down to "the 50 micron level."

Where, specifically, is the micron-filtration level listed, for the Mr. Funnel products?

Found this on their site. I have one and they absolutely work.

Mr. Funnel incorporates a 100 micron, Teflon coated stainless steel filter element.

Thank you so much for finding the 100 micron spec. for Mr. Funnel!

And I have NO DOUBT that they work.

However, I must respectfully disagree that the specs are the same, as the Racor site does list a "50 micron" spec., as you will see here, if you scroll down to the blue and white grid/chart:

So, if I'd already purchased a Mr. Funnel, I'm sure I'd be fine with that, as I do believe they work, based on your experience and similar reports by other TBN'ers.

However, if I can get one with with an even finer screen (even if it doesn't make any practical difference) I think I'll try that (yeah, I've got the OCD...LOL).

At least, I'll see how much the Racor filters are, what shipping times are, etc..., and report back.

And I remain interested in any other opinions on the Racor vs Mr. Funnel question.

Quite a bit of difference in the price too, the 5gpm Mr Funnel is almost $28 on Amazon and the Racor 5gpm is $70.

You guys cost me $$ :confused2: I just ordered the F8 5GPM,

I needed a $25 order anyways,,, I had like 8 "add-ons" that needed a $25 order, so it was perfect.

I have been worrying about the diesel since I switched from gas to diesel mowing last summer.

Is the screen easily removable? It takes forever to pour oil through a filter.

On the Mr Funnel, the screen just lifts out, don't know about the Racor.

Amazon has at least 3 sizes.

I have the Mr. Funnel in most sizes and do not fuel up anything out of my stored containers without using one- including the largest for the tractor and the smallest for the 2 cycle equipment.
